I was chatting with my two photography buds at work and mentioned the big fish I snapped while coming out the cave. Well! It turns out the guy in the office next to me is a fisherman and he perked up and gave me bass ID websites. I *think* this is a Largemouth Bass, but I'm looking for confirmation. So you'll know how much of a fish story this big fish is, the grass blades are about 1" wide.
Froebel School Stone with Names - Alum can purchase brink with their name or in memorial of another alum. Memorial Stone at Froebel Park former site of Froebel High School
Gary Superintendent of Schools, William Wirt, the same Wirt that was considered in the early 1900’s as a progressive school administrator, stated that “it is only in justice to the negro children that they be segregated.” ( Yes, it was an “in-justice.”) There were two serious student boycotts in Gary at Emerson School and Froebel school. Both boycotts were brought about because of integration with black students.
In 1927, a boycott at Emerson lasted for five days and ended with the compromise to build an all black high school. Emerson School is the school from which Oscar winner Karl Malden graduated. The school that hate and fear built in 1928 was Roosevelt High School.
The Froebel school boycott lasted much longer and included several hundred white students. It began September 18, 1945. It’s notoriety even prompted the appearance of Frank Sinatra at Memorial Auditorium on November 1, 1945. He turned down a $10,000 engagement to come to Gary and urge students to return to class. Sinatra told the audience that the strike was “the most shameful incident in the history of education.” Although his personal appearance did not influence the striking students, it did bring much unwanted national attention to Gary. Even Carl Sandburg and the novelist Edna Ferber came to Gary to see firsthand what all the fuss was about. The strike finally ended on November 12th. One result of the strike was that 116 Black students were allowed to attend five previously all White schools.

Allah, He who has the Godhood which is the power to create the entities.
Allah is the Arabic word for God. It is compounded of "Al", the definite article 'the', and "illah", meaning "god". Therefore, Allah literally means "The God" -- somewhat parallel to the capitalized "God" in English. The name Allah is used by Muslims world-wide, as well as Arabic-speaking Christians, Jews, and others. It is written in Arabic as اللهFrom an Islamic point of view, Allah is the special name of God and is the most precious name because it is not a descriptive name like the other 99 Names of Allah, but the name of God's own presence. It is impossible to alter the word in Arabic; such as create a plural form (gods) or change the gender. The Islamic concept of mankind's place in the universe hinges on the notion that God is the only true [reality]. There is nothing permanent other than God. God is considered eternal and "uncreated", whereas everything else in the universe is "created."Allah is considered by Muslims to be omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscent. Islam teaches that other religions have, in one way or another, distorted and nullified a pure and proper belief in Almighty God by neglecting His true teachings and mixing them with man-made ideas.Muslims do not try to draw or depict God in any way, according to Islamic belief it could lead to idol worship. Instead, we focus on His 99 Names and attributes that are stated in the Quran. Nearly one third of the book is used describing God's attributes and actions. Also, "Qudsi Hadith" are special recorded sayings of Muhammad to Muslims where he quotes what God says to him. Reid's Coffee Palace (another name for a temperance hotel) was built by German immigrant John Reid on the site of his New York Bakery next to Ballarat's central railway terminus. Reid's Coffee Palace, which along with the bakery, and the Provincial Hotel across the street, were part of the franchise operated by John Reid.
Reid's Coffee Palace was built in two stages. The first was in 1886, with Melbourne architects Tappin and Gilbert and contractors Taylor and Ellis. The extensions were undertaken by Tappin Gilbert and Dennehy in 1888. The verandah would appear to have been built about ten years after that around 1898 - 1900. Externally the two stages are clearly evident with two bracketed pediments surmounted by elaborate name plates and flanked by a balustraded parapet. The Edwardian balcony verandah with central gablet, densely patterned frieze iron and matching unusual triangular brackets is of interest. Internally the stairwell with its wonderful hand painted ceiling and wall panels, clerestory, glazing and entrance arch are perhaps of greatest importance. The building is intact, other than recent repainting and signs and two shopfronts of the 1920s. Internally, only major items of interest have survived. The combination of the stairwell with the balcony verandah make this an important building of the coffee palace era and unique on a state wide basis.
The Coffee Palace remained extraordinarily intact, both internally and externally until the property was finally sold by the Reid family in 1977. The original fixtures and furniture was sold off and the whole building redecorated internally and externally.
John Reid emigrated from Germany to America, where in New York (the desination of so many European immigrants) he entered the baking trade. In 1855 brought the techniques and specialities he had learnt in New York to the burgeoning Victorian goldfields to feed the hordes of hungry miners, most of whom had never known anything like what John served. He established a New York bakery in the adventageous spot next to Ballarat's busy railway station, where the bakery remained until he decided to open his own coffee palace.
The term coffee palace was primarily used in Australia to describe the temperance hotels which were built during the period of the 1880s although there are references to the term also being used, to a lesser extent, in the United Kingdom. They were hotels that did not serve alcohol, built in response to the temperance movement and, in particular, the influence of the Independent Order of Rechabites in Australia.

This is a close up of the brick path that leads up to the Old Grace Historic Church in Massapequa, NY. The Church itself was built in 1844. The path, which looks fairly new, is engraved or carved with various names of people. As I said before, the path looks fairly new so I am not quite sure when it was added.

This is the intersection of Washington Blvd. and Central Ave. You can call it South Los Angeles, the Furniture and Decorative Arts District, or Menlo Park. The L.A. Times calls it Historic South Central. The Yahoo map calls it Jefferson.
Named after members of a family called Jackson, this close has no significant history, though the classical scholar William Nichols lived here from 1744-1794.
Jackson's Close leads to Cockburn Street.
Cockburn Street is a picturesque street in Edinburgh's Old Town, created as a serpentine link from the Royal Mile to Waverley Station in 1856. It is named after the Scottish lawyer, judge and literary figure Henry, Lord Cockburn who was influential in urging his fellow citizens to remain vigilant in ensuring that early-Victorian expansion, e.g. improvements such as Cockburn Street, did not irrevocably damage or obliterate the built heritage and environment.
The street contains a series of small specialist shops.
In the Sailor Moon universe, the team eventually gets upgraded into their super forms during the aptly named SuperS series. it would have been great to get all the Super ones, but I'd be happy with a team of the regular form ladies as, well, I'm cheap. But, as fate would have it, I recently came upon an well priced ad for one of the Senshi that I did not have, and it happened to be in her Super form.
Presenting the SH Figuarts Super Sailor Jupiter figure, purchased off Kijiji for $55 CAD.
For the uninitiated, what is a Super Sailor Senshi? Well, like all series, new elements are introduced to reinvigorate interest in a franchise. In the fourth season of Sailor Moon (SuperS), Usagi, Chibi Moon, and the rest of the Inner Senshi are upgraded by a benevolent creature called Pegasus. I've seen enough bits and pieces throughout the years to visually all this in my head, but I can't exactly say I ever actually watched it on screen. The ladies get snazzier costumes and of course, new ways to unleash hell on their enemies. So what does this mean in terms of the figures?
Well, naturally the Super Senshi would have their outfits updated to reflect the new look as per the anime. But the bigger change is that Bandai crammed these Super Senshi with more accessories, including much needed attack effects because honestly, with the exception of one or two of the Senshi, hand to hand wasn't really their strength. These upgrades were I'd say very much a necessity to get a collecting public to basically buy the same figure again.. or maybe they just tried harder back then because it's not like they're trying that hard with Dragon Ball that have multiple iterations across the timeline.
So in addition to snagging a pimped out figure for a good price, this one also happens to be Sailor Jupiter, who just happens to be my favourite Inner Senshi in terms of personality and design. Her civilian form is Kino Makoto (Wiki says she's Lita in the DiC dub.. I honestly can't remember). She's easily the most adept at hand to hand asswhooping amongst the group, built like a brawler, but with the dream of settling down and having a family of her own one day. IIRC one of her more humourous traits is that she's one of the more competent cooks in the series, because in anime you're either decent or you effectively cook poison. Being aligned with the planet Jupiter, she exercises control over lightning and plant life.
With that out of the way, lets dive into the figure itself.
Contents of the box shouldn't surprise you at this point seeing how I glossed over it. There's the figure, five total face plates (neutral, smiling, eyes closed, focused attack, winking), 11 additional hands including one dedicated to holding her Crystal Change Rod, the Rod itself, a base, two dynamic stand arms (one for the claw attachment that will hold the figure, the other for supporting the Jupiter Oak Evolution effect), the aforementioned affect, and an additional hair piece with a green energy effect on the peak of the tiara. Based on my reading, effects aside, this set has two extra faces as compared to the first release, and one extra hand, specifically the one that holds the Rod.
Sailor Jupiter is officially 5' 6", which puts her about half a foot shorter than Sailor Uranus, the tallest at 6' even. Perhaps its this shorter stature (by comparison), but Jupiter doesn't seem as stretched out as Uranus is in terms of limb length. Horribly malnourished, sure, but at least she doesn't look like the Kareem Abdul Jabbar of the Sailor Moon universe. As with many of the older lines, it seems that Tamashii Nations stuck to one face shape for ease of production - that's not to say it's horribly off, but it certainly doesn't seem bang on even at the most casual glance. Better than those OG Dragon Ball Figuarts though, mind you. Like all the other Senshi, Jupiter has small, nonsensical feet that make posing or even standing, a test of patience, though at least a challenge that can be completed unlike some other figures in my collection. Her ponytail is sculpted in mid motion, which makes for generally more dynamic poses.
Between the figure in my hand, the figures I own, and recall from an article or two I've read, here's a run down of the differences between the actual pre and post Super figures.
1. Bow on the back are significantly larger and have articulated translucent tails
2. IIRC the colour of the tiaras are different
3. Shoulders of the outfits now have semi clear non coloured plastic extensions
4. it seems to me that, at least on Super Sailor Jupiter, that the skirt material is thinner compared to all the other ladies in my collection, allowing for greater range of motion in the legs
Other than that, the actual figure itself appears to be consistent with the rest of the squad.
Continuing our usual path, we first talk about articulation, and yes, nothing new to report here other than the skirt allowing for more movement. So there's ankles, single jointed knees, hips with the pull down function for more range of motion, waist, mid torso, shoulders, bicep swivel, single jointed elbows. wrist, head, as well as a single point for her pony tail and one point for each of the bow tails. Combine this with the various hands, especially the dedicated attack pose hands, stand, and actual attack effects, you end up with a good range of display options for the bestest Inner Senshi of them all.
Paint, for better or worse, is the same as with all the other Senshi. Generally strong paint applications across the board, with some really clean detailed paint applications on areas such as her choker and the tiara, but suffering from some lacklustre paint masking in areas involving white paint, most notable being where her top meets her skirt. The white on her is predominately a pearl finish coat of paint, with the greens having a metallic finish, and the remainder generally being a flat finish. Her Jupiter Oak Evolution effect is predominately a clear green plastic with some paint applications on the ends of the energy balls. Decals are applied accurately and aren't crooked. As always, I'm overcritical when it comes to things like this, and the short version is that while it's not perfect, you can tell it's not a bootleg.
Build quality is solid. For starters, the arms aren't meant to come off like Uranus and Neptune, and as such there are no issues with limbs falling off. Otherwise, joints hold your position, limbs do not have issues with uneven lengths, tolerances are good, and finishes, while a bit crude on some parts, are generally acceptable overall and do not feel rough to the touch. Moulding of parts is crisp, with all the fine details still present after the application of paint.
So overall, the figure is of the quality one would expect from the Figuarts lineup, which.. makes sense. Having said that, what about value? Well, the original was 4,200 yen in 2014 and Super was 5,500 yen in 2017. Overall, if anything I'd say that original series was probably overpriced, though I guess you could argue that maybe the tooling being already developed made the Super line cheaper to make. There's no doubt that from a presentation perspective, the Super lineup gives you more to play around with, but whether or not its worth the extra $20 - $30 USD (roughly.. your mileage will vary) is up the collector. While I personally don't regret paying the surcharge for Jupiter as she's my favourite, I'm not hardcore enough to go MSRP for the remaining Super Senshi, or to double dip on any of them unless I find them at fire sale prices.
But, regardless, no matter how you look at it, Sailor Jupiter does the Sailor Moon Figuarts lineup proud, and I eagerly continue my hunt across the globe for the rest of the ladies at prices that give my luck a workout.

He was married on 26 July 1875 to Carrie Libby (1856-1942) and the couple at least one daughter. In 1856 Lewis was living in Iowa with his parents and five siblings; in 1860, Hannah was head of the family and was living with Lewis and six other children in South Fork, Delaware County, Iowa. Lewis was listed as a member of Company A, Nebraska Volunteers 1st Cavalry Regiment on 1 July 1869. In the 1870 census he was living in Cub Creek, Jefferson County, Nebraska; he was living with his brother James and both were listed as farmers. In the 1880 census, Lewis was living in Fairbury, Nebraska, with his wife Carrie and daughter Blanche; he listed his occupation as photographer. Lewis Walter Culver passed away on 6 November 1881.
Photographer Charles W. Lucas was born July 1841 in Parkman, Maine, the son of carriage maker William Warren Lucas (1808-1899) and Sally Latham (born circa 1808). In 1850 Charles was living with his parents and four siblings in Parkman, Maine; in 1860 he was with his parents in Guilford, Maine, and in 1866 he paid $10.00 for a Class B license as a photographer in Guilford. He relocated to Brodhead, Wisconsin circa 1868 or 1869, and after working for others for a few years, he opened his photography studio in 1871. He was married on 4 September 1870 to Bathsheba Springsted (1847-1928) and the couple would have at least two children. In the 1880 census, the couple was in Brodhead and Charles was still listed as a photographer. In the 1900, Charles was still in Brodhead, but the census did not list an occupation. I did not find any additional information about him.

"Come on, don't you know who I am? Say it!"
Jagi, fourth and least brother of Hokuto Shinken, maniac and murderer, dedicated his life to ruining the name of his brother, Kenshiro - to the point where he scarred his chest to imitate him, and demands that his soldiers and victims all call him by that name.
And why? Jealousy and revenge. Jealousy made him try to kill Ken, and revenge for his subsequently-scarred face fills in the rest. More than anybody else in Fist of the North Star, Jagi fights dirty, using his meager Hokuto skills in tandem with any possible weapon he can get his hands on. He'll throw needles in your eye. bring a shotgun to a fistfight. Blow up a building to take out one man.
You'd better say his name...
