Outside Cornwall Community Hospital where we were required to be N95 3M mask testing. It was determined that properly attached to the face the virus can’t spread in or out of this mask that now is so essential to wear in order to prevent catching the new Omicron variant that’s highly contagious and now extremely active in Cornwall with over 751 active cases and 3 in the ICU with one recent death. So essential to be fully vaccinated and boosted to reduce the severity of the virus infection and contagion. The Ontario Health Unit has recently stated to switch from cloth to N95 masks.

Project 365, 2022 Edition: Day 151/365

We're down to isolating within our own house. Danny tested positive for COVID this morning, after his boss and boss's wife testing positive the previous day.

My partner works at Fastenal, an essential business. Danny went into work throughout the pandemic, without pause. This is the first time anyone in his office bubble has been infected. In my opinion Fastenal took strong initiative in establishing safety protocols, and always put employee safety first. The office was redesigned to keep employees and customers separate. However, outside contact is inevitable.

We're all going to get COVID sooner or later. I expected it would come to us finally through his work. I'm grateful that his employer did everything it could to protect us this long. We both had our boosters on April 17, so hopefully they'll serve us well enough. Probably we have a less virulent variant to deal with.

As for me, I'm still negative. Will I expose myself unnecessarily? Of course not. Staying as healthy as possible as long as possible is always better. We have a small place so proper isolation in impractical, but we're doing our best.

This is the only type of mask, called a respirator, that can filter out Coronavirus from the air. Unfortunately they are on back order and are currently unavailable to healthcare practitioners and the public.
