Found this statue in Samarinda and loved it - probably because my son's name is Griffin - can't recall what they called it but would appreciate it if anyone out there knows let me know.

This was a gift from the second student we hosted for an exchange year in 2011-12. Every time I see them, I think of her. I see them often because they sit on the shelf with my favourite books.

The children had learnt to recognise those subtle signs that showed when mum had just about had enough.

A cool statue on top of a neat abandoned building. The sign says it was a church.

When you have four granddaughters like I do, mythological creatures are something that you see everyday.

Also this theme would fit for magical because a unicorn is a magical creature.

For 115 in 2015 theme #9 Mythological Creature

For 52 in 2015 theme #16 Magical.

The face of Poseidon or Neptune. It adorns the pillar of the home of a neighbour nearby. Their garden overlooks Killiney bay so I guess it's rather appropriate. At night time it comes alive.. Ok I made that bit up! ;-))

"Smile on Saturday!" July 20, 2019: "Humanimal"

Charybdis is a monster from Greek Mythology. She is Partnered with Scylla, who sits apon the cliff next to her.

No, Charybdis is not just a whirlpool. Unknown by many, there is actually a monster under the water. There is no description in any writing (that I have seen) of what she actually looks like.

--The whirlpool part of her, is when she opens her gaping mouth and sucks in. She swallows everything; water, passing ships, sea animals, everything.

--Then, she exhales and spits everything out. Everything flies everywhere.

Everything is timed surprisingly. These things happen at the same time every day.

Many heroes of Greek Legend traveled by here safely; and many died. But who hears the story of the hero who got eaten by Charybdis? No one.

I am finally able to release and publish these pictures that I am really excited about. It was a comissioned shoot for a very cool project. It is a photography series and all the pictures tell a story so I am gonna be posting them here chronologically but you can go to my blog and check them all out in there. I explain a little about this project and share the entire series!

An entry for the Challenge Group 52 in 2015 Challenge No.16 - Magic(al).

This figurine is part of a large Tudor Mint Myth & Magic collection I own and which I am currently in the gradual process of selling. I have just sold this item, which is a Limited Edition, and I photographed it before it was packed for despatch. This piece is "The Gathering of the Unicorns".

Taken with my travel camera, a Panasonic TZ30 Lumix, and framed in Photoshop.

Better viewed in light box - click on the image or press 'L' on your keyboard.

Female Centaur wearing full armor.

Fresh from yesterdays photo shoot and just in time for St Georges Day!

This is probably my favourite creation for quite a while. You try sneaking up on a dragon with a wide-angle lenses and getting the exposure right when shooting straight into the sun!

Another sighting here

Without wanting to spoil the illusion :) massive thanks to edie for sharing a great few days over half term, where she (with a little input from me, in a sort of creative director role) made this fantastic creature from re-cycled materials for a competition taking place this weekend. And thanks due to the TTV group for the fake-ttv effect i've come up with by bastardising some of the stuff i found there (ruudpakua and milesdscott)

From Wikipedia: "Syrinx was a beautiful wood nymph who had many times attracted the attention of satyrs, and fled their advances in turn. Pursued by the amorous god Pan, she ran to a river's edge and asked for assistance from the river nymphs. In answer, she was transformed into hollow water reeds that made a haunting sound when the god's frustrated breath blew across them. Pan cut the reeds to fashion the first set of panpipes, which were thenceforth known as syrinx."

These are not my favorites of the shoot but still I wanted to upload them just to show some work.

I'll continue to post the pictures of this shoot as well as my favorites but in the meantime you can go and check them all out on my blog!

my favorites from last shoot.

I've been feeling a little weird lately. i've been remembering 2009 too much. It was a good year for me and somehow I can't get it out of my mind and focus on 2015.

I am in need of doing another shoot. Not self portraits but an actual shoot with an entire team. Lets see if I can make that happen in the next days.

To see the rest of this series go to my blog, they are all in there!

This little chap was the House Dragon in our rented holiday cottage in Somerset. He was very friendly and when I told him about the 115 challenge, he offered to pose straight away.

One of my personal favorite mythological creatures being brought to life! I have always been intrigued by vampires powers of seduction and temptation. How they lure in their victims and have mortals lust over them. The masters of seduction in our modern day world.

The real one, not the mock-up from "Percy Jackson and the Olympians".

This replica is one of the art world's best-kept secrets - a recreation of the original Parthenon!

There is also an awesome art gallery in the basement - - - a definite must-see!!!

I FINALLY got to update my Wendigo. The body was bothering me, and with a new body came a few things that I needed to update thanks to clipping. It still occasionally clips, but nothing that can't be shrugged off as a ragged old outfit.

Art Deco Phoenix ornament in the restored Chicago Motor Club Building, now a Hampton Inn hotel located on East Wacker Place in Chicago, Illinois.

Detail showing some of 12 mosaic tile angels in the interior of the historic 1908 Lakewood Memorial Chapel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The chapel was designed by architect Harry Wild Jones with mosaics by designer Charles Lamb of Lamb Studios in New York. Jones design was based on Hagia Sophia in Instanbul. The 12 angels on the dome symbolize the 12 sons of Jacob, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 gates to the Holy City, and the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ.

Some of you might recognise the Dragon from earlier in the year,

www.flickr.com/photos/s0ulsurfing/2437650919/

i had fun carrying her around the bay on this shoot, got some strange looks, but i like to think they were just jealous they didn't have a pet dragon of their own to play with :)
