Hampi's motorbikes
For some unknown reason, Vreni's Japanese Suzuki TM250 from 1968 has broken down. Hampi, the owner of the motorcycle workshop, is at a Men's Home Bible Group, so his wife Bea has come with a 63’ VW T1b bus and trailer to pick up the motorcycle.
I opened the door and turned the front wheels on the 1/87 bus model from Brekina. I built the trailer completely myself.

Between dust, dirt, and flying debris - at times - it was hard to concentrate on framing in camera. I'm glad I had very committed riders that provided many awesome shooting situations. This was another one of them.

Update, April 2014: I was notified last week that, by popular vote among 75 photo participants, I was elected the motocross photo competition winner, with my series of uploaded photos to the New Way Photography website - the group I went out with to shoot this racing event. A real honor to receive this unexpected distinction, especially being this my first time shooting motocross racing bikes.
Original story:
Last Sunday I had the opportunity to shoot, among 70 other photographers, a few motocross races. A really amazing experience and the first time I shoot this type of sports action. The thrill to get close into the action through the lens, and capture these split-second moments, is indescribable.
After editing a lot of material, it's hard to chose my favorite images from this event. There are many wonderful photos from different angles, track locations, and racing moments. I'm sure I'll be posting a few more. Due to walking-gear issues I didn't cover some track locations that also looked ideal to me. At one point, shortly after noon, I gave in to all the dust and dirt. It was very windy! I'm also sure I will return to this motocross park for more pictures now that I discovered this high-energy-packed source of action photography.
And, on a side note, I'll be equipped with the appropriate "swamp-proof" shoes!

This was a cool picture, especially with the popping and coordinated colors outfit giving a nice touch.
Over and over during the shoot I thought about Queen's song: Another One Bites The Dust. That, unfortunately, included me!

Last Sunday was a full day of races, in a number or categories. Under a scorching sun I managed to keep shooting the whole event. Exhausting! I moved constantly throughout the track, looking for interesting angles to capture the intensity of the races. It was a really fantastic experience, charged with high-energy action. I'll be posting more of these action shots.
