My Brilliant Black Mazda Miata MX5 with Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT)

My old car on the Brooklands Members Banking

A rather rough looking used car lot, which might have now gone out of business. There were a lot of modern cars like this MX5 with no number plates hanging around. Most stock looked very neglected with flat tyres etc. Most interesting car was probably a 10 year old Saab 9-3 marked up for £299!

The Fiesta's DVLA record suggests it hasn't been on the road for a while too:

Date of Liability 01 04 2012

Year of Manufacture 2005

A small plastic putty knife can slip easily into the crack at the bottom of the panel. Pull up and toward you and - POP!

Notre coup de coeur 2015, la MAZDA MX5...

Arranged a photo shoot with two car clubs and this was how it went.

Here's what's behind that panel - not much! Too small to access the rear speakers but big enough to pass a cable for an external CB speaker, which I mounted to the floor of this cubby.

25 Aniversario de Mazda Miata/MX5 en Albacete

Had a chat with the owner at the Commercial Vehicle Museum, Leyland this morning. This has complete MX5 running gear. It will be painted black and converted to run on methanol.

The first Mazda MX5 was ordered with the optional winter hard top. It did wonders for cabin temperature, but was responsible for a lot of wind noise, while it did not really make the cabin any quieter. It was an expensive option too, and installing it and removing it was rather difficult. Storing it in my appartment was not very practical too. Needless to say, I did not order a hard top for the current MX5.
