Hervey Bay in Queensland is town were it's almost 'de rigueur' to own a small dog. Most of the residents are elderly retired folk, so managing big energetic pooches would be too much for them to handle.

Ownership of one or two small mutts at the most seems to be the norm, however the rider of this scooter goes all out with his number of 'fur babies'.

Another Nam Era build, lots more to come. Not as easy to build in Old Dark Grey, so was tricky at this size of 5 wide and colour, but fun still.

First put into service in Vietnam, the M151 played an active part in American military operations well into the 1980s, when it was phased out in favor of the Humvee. Despite its official replacement, the M151 had some distinct advantages over its much larger and heavier successor, like being small enough to fit inside a CH-53 heavy transport helicopter. This flexibility was one of the reasons the U.S. Marine Corps deployed M151 FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle) variants through 1999, in places like Kosovo. It currently serves in U.S. special forces units as a FAV.

I see these 2 men strolling the beach together often, and they always carry their sticks. On this morning, they emerged out of a thick fog bank, so the clarity is a bit off. But I am touched by their constant companionship.

Back Story .........................................

Yesterday was a bit different then the usual.

At 11:15 AM a friend gave me a ride out to the

monkey temple. That's in a car, sense Aug 8th

I have not been on a scooter. In time I'll be back

in the saddle again and it will be business as usual.

I hung out with all the dogs till my ride returned at

4PM. One of the main reasons for this trip was to

give the dogs their monthly medications. This is very

important and can never be forgotten. Here in the jungle

heart-worm and a whole host of unwanted guests will soon

take full advantage of any animal not covered by medications.

There was only 6 or 7 photos taken in total as my body just

wasn't in the mood to carry the camera around, so I didn't ...

In this photo Mama is scolding Little Stubby for doing

something stupid. No big deal, this is as far as it went

cuz L-Stubby knew she did whatever it was she did ....

Rocky, being a young boy, of course thinks it's real funny.

A Big Thank You for your donations.

We are always in desperate need

of funding to help the innocent

animals dumped in the

dangerous jungle.

Thank You.

The goal this week was to take a photo of Buddy singing under the apple trees, but I just couldn't resist this happy-go-lucky shot.

One out-take in comments

A test roll with this well-regarded soviet dedicated macro lens which I got as part of a Zenit outfit from the local classifieds with intent to sell it, as the combo also included an Industar 61 L/Z which looks more like a keeper due to smaller size and weight. The simultaneous presence of both lenses in somebody's arsenal seems a bit strange as they are directly comparable in every respect, even the star-shaped bokeh highlights at f5.6. This was also the first roll from a batch of expired Konica VX100 that I recently got for very little money. I had mixed (bordering on bad) feelings for expired Konica VX200 film, but this time, it being a slower emulsion, I thought perhaps results would be better. Sadly, the pics came out quite bad, colours being completely off, with a heavy magenta cast that was a bitch to get rid of in PP. Having said that, I'm pretty sure that the lomo crowd would probably love it, plus the unpredictability can be a welcome challenge for some creative PP.

Andy, Skippy and Ace: Hollywood Mutts

Today's story and sketch "by me" began in the middle of the night, not last night but a night a few weeks ago, a night Pat and I will never forget, it started when the man cave interdimension stargate alarm buzzer, was signaling something was about to enter the garage. The incoming object was something very large and was howling as it entered the man cave. It was large and as Black as the back side of the moon, it had large glowing magenta eyes. The beast nearly scared us out of our PJ's, not exactly Pajamas, I was wearing a pair of Sponge Bob shorts, and a Steely Dan T-shirt, Pat in a stylish Silk Yukata with embroidered Saturn Serpents, it's truly quite lovely. I picked it up while on a mission to Saturn with Rescue Randy the most interesting living tissue crash test dummy in the Cosmos, we had to rescue JB from a blind date that went bad, he was served an incapacitating adult beverage at a speed dating club by a tall brunette, who was really a blonde wearing a wig and five inch pumps, but luckily Randy got DNA from her beer mug, and tracked her and JB to her apartment on Saturn, that rescue will have to be a story for another time. The beast was actually extremely friendly and took a liking to Pat, he is a male Martian Malumutt, that had jumped out of a glider in wormhole Nine a week ago, but luckily picked up the scent of Moon Pies to our Stargate, it opened when it responded to its howls. Pat feed the starving beast A dozen pooch moon pies and a half gallon of two percent milk. When we finally got back into bed it was Four am, when it was lying between us, Pat noticed it had an Intergalactic space forces ID number on its black diamond collar, turns out the Malumut named Jumbo had a reward for its return to the Intergalactic Space Agency headquarters north of Pismo Beach where you see us just exiting the "ISA" Stargate with Jumbo who seems happy to be home, until next time taa ta the Rod Blog.

From the same specialist I've uploaded photos from before. I thought this one was quite interesting, I've never seen a Mutt with doors and a solid roof before. Sadly the glass in the door is broken and I'd imagine finding a replacement pane will be quite a challenge

We had a vet visit on Friday and my chubby Bear and Belle weigh exactly the same -- to the tenth of a pound (so Bear's going on a diet -- and I'm going to have to lighten up on the treats). The vet commented on just how submissive Bear is to Belle and how seriously he takes his job taking care of her and fretting over her (he was busily grooming her after she returned from having her blood drawn). It is amazing to watch. He's not a naturally submissive dog at all -- he's not aggressive at all but he holds his own and other dogs don't mess with him. But Belle can do whatever she wants and bully him around (and she takes full advantage). He just loves his girl (and she loves her big brother).

Although I have a Nikon DSLR I find I have been taking more pics with my iPhone. This week a friend gave me their iPhone 6 which was an upgrade for me - someone that doesn’t spend $$ on the latest & greatest technology. So here’s to my first iPhone 6 pic on Flickr - definitely NOT the greatest, but with the best model!

Bruno demonstrating his exceptional situational deafness skills.

I often see this dog trainer and his pack out when I go for a morning saunter. On this day in August his wife and grandchild were not with them, so it made for a pretty clean shot with the mutts all obediently lined up like that. I did have to clone away the distraction of bits of people coming from the other way. When I say 'bits of people' I mean they were partially hidden by the man and his pack, but they were distracting, so I removed them.
