Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "Mother" security corridor - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sometimes the build requires creating pieces not seen and are made to simply give stability and bring together various parts of a diorama. Although the ceiling of the security corridor contains some detail, the main build of the frame's purpose is to plug in and hold the walls together. Nothing really fancy to show and I haven't added the ribbed detailing but hopefully you can see the progress I'm talking about. I've also included and exterior of the build from the MU/TH/UR entrance from the bridge, leading to the computer's chamber or "womb" as Sir Ridley Scott liked to call it. Looks a little similar to the actual stage build. I plan to create a nice "shell" that will cover this exterior build which will resemble the exterior of he ship and give that much more stability to the diorama. Waiting on some resin to cast the control panels to the entryway door then this project will be tabled and figure sculpting will commence! Will finish the control chair as well. I'll be needing to create a shell that will encompass the chamber along with the corridor leading to the entrance from the bridge. It will need to allow room for the fiber optics to set in. If it's ever to be put on display, it will be tricky. I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Quick Sunday update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 Chamber - completed the sculpt to the overhead section of the entrance way using Aves FIXIT. It's a solid block...was thinking of building a styrene frame to sculpt over but I had some older FIXIT I had to use up so what the heck...it worked out just fine. Still have padding to complete - hope to get an hour or so to complete that tonight. Threw the chair (still a work in progress) in there for the second shot. Also some repairs to the chair itself but wanted to show some progress. The front half plugs directly to the chair via the arm rests. Began building the framework for the MU-TH-UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" as I will call if from this point on. Also working on the portal between the chamber and the corridor that connects to it. Will be breaking out the Aves Epoxy to sculpt the padding around the door frame as well as the interior of the frame. The build for the chamber itself will be a slow process - I do intend and making it LED friendly so no worries to those that are curious. My concern currently are the details that will be going into each of the panels at this scale. hope you enjoy! I already had some chairs made for other parts of the ship so I just whittled down a copy using a dremel and began sculpting new upholstry to the seat using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Build update on the 1:18 scaled MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - ALIEN 79. So here is the nightmare I have created for myself. You can see a small example of the detail that has been added so far....but also the amount of detail that remains to be applied. I'm not discouraged, not in the least...I've come this far, not going to let a bunch of little squares hold back what will be a pretty awesome piece when complete. I do however get exhausted looking at it. Just going to tackle a little at a time between other projects. Note that this is a handmade piece...I'm not using laser cutting tech or 3D printing assistance. It was suggested that I make one panel of each piece, then mold the lot and cast them. A great idea but as I said, this is a hand made piece. Each wall panel may be slightly different from the next one...and a slight difference can make fitting a cast piece very difficult. May take longer, but one small panel at a time is the only way to go right now. Again, not discouraged....I've seen more detail applied to models much more complex than this. Keep my mind on the final outcome....Next week however, I'm going to be leaving the Nostromo for a shot term and heading back to figures sculpting...I have been bitten by the sculpting bug. #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #diorama #scratchbuilding #weylandyutani

This wall panel detail alone contains approx. 1366 individual square styrene pieces cut and placed by hand. Chamber will have an estimated 10,000 + square pieces complete. This is probably the most ambitious part of the ALIEN 79 project I will take on (which includes the Giger work) . After this I will be able to make anything.....ANYTHING! LOL! Seriously though, after seeing this first wall panel complete, I'm encouraged to follow through with it.. FLIP MODE - Flipped the chamber on it's head to make sure the ceiling contours matches up with that of the walls. The gap you see in one of the walls is the "false wall"...or the one that can be removed so the interior can be displayed. When properly assembled the gap is reduced. Trying to get this part of the chambers framework complete by end of day tomorrow then it will be onto the chair. Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "Mother" chamber - Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Completed the build of the chair and have started to add paneling and detail to it. Needs some repairs and additional sculpt work to the chair itself. The entire front console was made from sheet styrene. Build update for the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Completed detail for the first of seven panels + ceiling. This wall panel detail alone contains approx. 1366 individual square styrene pieces cut and placed by hand. Chamber will have an estimated 10,000 + square pieces complete. This is probably the most ambitious part of the ALIEN 79 project I will take on (which includes the Giger work) . After this I will be able to make anything.....ANYTHING! LOL! Seriously though, after seeing this first wall panel complete, I'm encouraged to follow through with it.. Build update on the 1:18 scaled MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - ALIEN 79. So here is the nightmare I have created for myself. You can see a small example of the detail that has been added so far....but also the amount of detail that remains to be applied. I'm not discouraged, not in the least...I've come this far, not going to let a bunch of little squares hold back what will be a pretty awesome piece when complete. I do however get exhausted looking at it. Just going to tackle a little at a time between other projects. Note that this is a handmade piece...I'm not using laser cutting tech or 3D printing assistance. It was suggested that I make one panel of each piece, then mold the lot and cast them. A great idea but as I said, this is a hand made piece. Each wall panel may be slightly different from the next one...and a slight difference can make fitting a cast piece very difficult. May take longer, but one small panel at a time is the only way to go right now. Again, not discouraged....I've seen more detail applied to models much more complex than this. Keep my mind on the final outcome....Next week however, I'm going to be leaving the Nostromo for a shot term and heading back to figures sculpting...I have been bitten by the sculpting bug. #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #diorama #scratchbuilding #weylandyutani

Build update on the Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sorry for the delay - been a very busy week or so away from the custom world. Began building the framework for the MU-TH-UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" as I will call if from this point on. Also working on the portal between the chamber and the corridor that connects to it. Will be breaking out the Aves Epoxy to sculpt the padding around the door frame as well as the interior of the frame. The build for the chamber itself will be a slow process - I do intend and making it LED friendly so no worries to those that are curious. My concern currently are the details that will be going into each of the panels at this scale. hope you enjoy! Per the video I posted early this morning here is an image of the three detailed panels for the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Pieces aren't 100% cleaned up yet - need some sanding/filling. Began framing the remaining 4 panels today. I want so bad to get back to figure sculpting - wish I never began this project knowing that it would take time to get to the completion point I'd want to achieve which is detailing the interior....but here I am. I'm not regretting anything - I'll be happy to have this step out of the way in the long run.

I estimate another week or so with my work schedule the way it is before the remaining walls are complete. THEN, back to figure sculpting...I have some new ideas and some old sculpts to return to the workbench. <3 #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #diorama #scratchbuilding #weylandyutani
