When I was a kid, Eastern Gray Squirrels were common, and they were "gray" in coloration. Now, my yard is visited by numerous "black" squirrels; none are gray. But, here is an Eastern Gray Squirrel ( Sciurrus carolinensis) that is black with a gray tail.
Black squirrels are genetically mutated, "melaninstic" morphs of Eastern Gray Squirrels.
This squirrel is trying to dig in the turf to hide this apple. Some neighbor apparently feeds squirrels household scraps. Frequently, squirrels run through my yard with slices of bread, fruit, and even a piece of pizza. It's a kind-hearted neighbor who might inadvertently encourage other vermin, like flies and rats.

What causes a squirrel to be white?

The white squirrel is actually a genetic anomaly due to a mutated gene from the common Eastern Gray Squirrel. It is called leucism, which is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals caused by a recessive allele. Unlike albinism, it is a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin.

Part of an art installation ( "Das Ü des Türhüters") by Andreas Slominski at Deichtorhallen, Hamburg.
"Slominski created a large-scale installation especially for the Deichtorhallen with portable toilets that symbolize the ongoing development of our cities. In the exhibition, the artist will present over one hundred of these portable plastic toilets—industrial products that mutate into independent artworks. "
The mutated Niazesk was enlarged several times its original size, and had its venom strengthened. After being mutated, it was roughly seven feet tall.

Although it's sad to see the flowering season end. Dahlias display interesting mutations at this time of year. This pink one is normally fuller in form.

Jengo, Toa of Fire

This brave Toa survived an agressive encounter with Makuta Miserix, but got struck with the power of the mask of mutation while in fight. His red body turned ash black and his flamethrower weapon fused with his body.
To get out alive Jengo used his fiery power to create a smoke bomb. Whilst Jengo escaped, his breathing capability got progressively worse to the point he couldn't move properly and return to base. Luckily a Ta-Matoran expedition team found him and rescued him to their village. There he received a fitting breathing apparatus and recovered quickly.
Jengo paid his debt by becoming the Ta-matoran village protector and has saved serveral matoran from many wild Rahi encounters already.
He does struggle to be at ease sometimes, mainly because he wants to get revenge on Makuta Miserix for what he did to him. But Jengo is unable to do it on his own.

The hospital sent Graham home this afternoon, by ambulance, with instructions to rest. Although, he's still having huge problems with walking. With the help of a friend we've upped the home nursing care to every day, rather than 3 times a week; although I'm not sure if that counts the weekend too, but I hope so.
Apparently, the hospital said his foot/ankle wasn't broken - we didn't think it was, and that's about it. Neither of us overly impressed. Just hope that whatever is wrong with his foot clears up on its own.
I'll do my best to keep up, but obviously G comes first. I might even get out at some point for some new photos, but that all depends on when and if I can leave G.

Another random figbarf from my delusional mind. Not really going to do anything with these guys, but I thought I would show them off as I found them really funny and fun to make.
Just a quick update on the unannounced series I've been teasing, basically I've got a full time job for the summer secured, so finding the time for the series is going to be very hard. But if I do manage to get the time, then I'll put my effort into it.
And no, the series isn't Agent Oink! XD

And as the universe mutates, are also just in passage, so let's be humble about that. The purpose of consciousness is unknowable - sometimes you just have to trust.
Spotted these thistles on a walk & have never seen anything like this before, my best description is mutated but I'm sure there is a technical term. In both shots you can see how the thistle normally grows.
