The pavilion, built in 1903 and recently renovated, is located in the spa gardens. Beautiful to look at with its artistic fretwork, it is used for weddings, concerts and summer markets.

What looks like a mess of wood in this photo is, on closer inspection, a pretty, well-shaped and thoughtfully built music pavilion in which people can make music, sing and certainly dance ! 😛

The upswing that Payerbach experienced as a result of the Semmering Railway and the many associated stays and influxes of wealthy guests from the greater Vienna area was also to be reflected in the park. In 1909, the Payerbach Bathing Company had the music pavilion shown in the photo built in the park next to the dammed Schwarza river, which is in no way inferior to the one in nearby Reichenau an der Rax.

Together with the theatre and the Waissnix, Wartholz and Rothschild castles as well as the Thalhof (nowadays again a place for cultural events), the spa park with the music pavilion are among the top sights of the time-honoured k.u.k. imperial summer resort of Reichenau an der Rax. Now the comprehensive general renovation of the music pavilion has been completed, it shines in new splendour and is ready for the next summer spa concerts !

Musikkpaviljongen in Bergen City Park at dusk, Norway

Smoking teen waiting for someone (candid shot)

The Music Pavilion (Musikkpaviljongen) in Byparken is a popular venue for concerts and other events in Bergen, Norway, and is a beautiful example of 19th-century architecture. The pavilion was built in 1888, and its design was inspired by the Moorish Revival style. The building has a circular ground plan and is topped by a dome. The exterior of the pavilion is decorated with intricate carvings, and the interior has a richly decorated ceiling.

Payerbach, the village in the Schwarza valley where the Semmering Railway spans the valley with a mighty arched equaduct and then winds slowly upwards over the mountain Eichberg towards the Semmering pass, has also developed further in the course of the railway construction in the 1850s and as a neighbouring village of the imperial Reichenau an der Rax. Like Reichenau, Payerbach has also created a park along the Schwarza river with a music pavilion, where various orchestras and singing groups still present their concerts in the summer months.

On a number of cultural monuments in Payerbach, pretty coat of arms-like signs have been attached with more detailed information about the object. On the top they show the coat of arms of the Bavarian noble family of Formbach, who were about 1000 years ago the first feudal lords in the Schwarza valley, as well as small colourful flags on the left and right, This sign here as an example gives information about the music pavilion; the flag poles of this sign have however already been broken off.

The Vander Veer Botanical Park is a 33-acre (130,000 m2) botanical garden in the Vander Veer Park Historic District of Davenport, Iowa. It is believed to be one of the first botanical parks west of the Mississippi River. The park was listed on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties on August 4, 1993.[2]

History

Vander Veer Park was established in 1885. The city of Davenport purchased the land for $13,000 ($341226 in 2014 dollars).[3][4] The park was built on the old Scott County Fairgrounds land and modeled after New York City’s Central Park.[4] Vander Veer was originally named Central Park. In 1912 the park was renamed after the first secretary of the Davenport Park Board of Commissioners, A.W. Vander Veer.[4] A conservatory, music pavilion, and decorative fountains were added after World War I.[4]

The park is currently maintained by a nonprofit organization, The Friends of Vander Veer.

"The trellis supports the sound system, which spans the 4,000 fixed seats and the Great Lawn, which accommodates an additional 7,000 people" (Millennium Park website). The acoustic design of the sound system is said to replicate an indoor concert hall sound experience.

A 24.5 acre public park (known as Chicago's "front lawn") – located within The Loop and near the city's Lake Michigan shoreline. It sits within the northwestern corner of Grant Park's 319 acres. The area was previously occupied parkland, rail yards and parking lots. Envisioned as a celebration of the millennium (2000) - planning of Millennium Park began in 1997 and it was opened in 2004 - 4 years behind schedule.

Four major artist highlights of the park are: the Jay Pritzker Pavilion (a bandshell designed by world renowned architect Frank Gehry); Cloud Gate / "The Bean" (a reflective steel sculpture by world renowned artist Anish Kapoor) , the Crown Fountain (an interactive work of public art + video sculpture/fountains by world renowned Catalan artist Jaume Plensa), and the Lurie Garden (a 5 acre public garden showcasing perennials, bulbs, grasses, shrubs and trees). The park is connected by the BP Pedestrian Bridge (also designed by architect Frank Gehry) to other parts of Grant Park. In the northwest corner of Millennium Park sits Wrigley Square which contains the Millennium Monument - a nearly full sized limestone replica (40 feet high) built in 2002 of the semicircle of paired Roman Doric-style concrete columns (peristyle) that originally sat in this area of Grant Park between 1917-1953.
