According to the plaque, this statue is "The first important antique of the royal French collections."
Diana the Huntress (with the deer by her side cropped out in this photo) followed the itinerancy of the court of the kings of France. She stayed at Fontainebleau as early as 1556, in the Salle des Antiques du Louvre in 1602, at Versailles in 1696 before returning to the Louvre a century later.
According to me, this slightly larger than life statue deserves a place on the Musée du Louvre must see list.

Jardin des Tuileries (Tuileries Gardens) were in full bloom, and we saw the sun!! In the background, we can see the Musee des Arts Decoratifs and the Louvre Museum. Majestic chestnut trees were in bloom throughout Paris, like the one on the right.
The Tuileries Gardens are formal French gardens, reportedly designed by Andre le Notre, the royal gardener to Louis XIV in the 17th century. (I had to look up "tuileries"...refers to "tile kilns" that once occupied this area that were replaced by the Tulieries Palace, which has also been destroyed).
It's been a month, more or less, since my last upload. Digged up the archives and found this, which is quite upload-worthy.
This is the glass pyramid of the Louvre. It also acts as the main entrance to the Louvre museum. It rises from the center of the main courtyard, Cour Napoleon, and is the focal point of the museum's main axes of circulation. It was not part of the original palace design, obviously, but added later on in 1989. When it was built, it received quite a mixed reviews as its futuristic edifice contrasts sharply with the classical design of the palace. Nowadays it is widely accepted as it is seen as a successful style merger of the old and the new and has become a landmark of the city of Paris.

MAURIZIO IN FRONT OF THE LOUVRE
It's been a few years since I was in Paris in the company of my friends Maurizio and Marina, clearly as a couple of my wife Fiorella but thanks to the photographic shots taken on that occasion everything is very much alive in my memory, even the wonder I felt looking out over the Louvre square with its majestic buildings full of history.
Before becoming a museum, some monarchs, such as Charles V and Philip II, used the palace as a royal residence, where they kept their art collections.
Once the royal residence was moved to the Palace of Versailles, the impressive 160,000 square meter building began its transformation process into one of the most important museums in the world.

💗Thank you so much to everyone who paid attention to this post!
Funny detail (among many other): the artist depicted a man sleeping on a huge anchor.

Cour Marly, Musée du Louvre.
Paris, March 2016.
In march I visited Paris for the sole reason to portray the beauty of this magnificent city in black and white images.
Other than New York, Paris is an old love I passionately photographed for 23 years.
And every time I discover new possibilities...

Most people assume that Paris is wonderful in May. Unfortunately I had to go there on a rainy and awfully cold day with the everything gray in gray. Hence, the only thing I could do was to play with the reflections on the wet surfaces and the geometry of the water drains.
