A long exposure, seascape image of rocks on the shore of Sandend in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on a very dull and murky morning.
Whatever the weather Luskentyre is always a stunning place to take photographs.

Thank you for visiting and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves - I appreciate them all.
Do ducks differentiate or have any preference between clean and muddy water? Am I being too philosophical?
The Watkin Path originally opened in 1892 as a donkey track and was never truly finished. Of all the official ascents, The Watkin Path starts nearest to sea level and so has more ascent than any other direct route up Snowdon. Whilst the Llanberis Path starts off only 50m higher and involves a little more distance . zoom in for detail :)
A few months ago I wrote that the kingfishers actual colour is a murky brown
Their feathers are special due to being in and out of water all the time., and the variations in the blue colour that reaches our eyes (or camera lens) is because of the way these feathers absorb and reflect the available light
This picture was taken into what light their was available., and there are hints of that murky brown
If he had moved into a brighter 'spot' all those blues would have magically looked a slightly different shade
Another day, another murky period, though this was late afternoon rather than evening, by which time it had cleared.
I love the colour and brightness that camellias bring at this time of the year, and I have to admit that I often mistake them for roses from a distance!
HFF! to one and all (& I don't mean the wall, though I do realise that many would reckon these as stone fences)!
Scarista beach on South Harris, isle of Lewis and Harris, at its rocky end with amazing patterns and textures during low tide
Happy Textural Tuesday!
Tonight on the Island of Gili Trawangan. A little spot where the birds fish, and the old trees remain standing. I wasn't sure about this one, but thought I'd share it to see your opinion.
The word murky comes from old Norse. Myrkviðr was the Norse name for the dark forest. Crossing the dark wood symbolized the going between two worlds. There were nine realms in all, united by the world tree, Yggdrasil. These realms ranged from the fires of Muspel, to the ice and mists of Niflheim. Dark elves and light elves, giants, dwarves and trolls roamed the forests and mountains.
Humans lived in Midgard and Asgard belonged to the gods.
Tolkien drew heavily from these myths when he created Middle earth and hobbits.

I love Low tide on Scotland's Moray Firth. It enables you to get much further out on the rocks for some new perspectives on familiar locations.
It just snowed a little while ago, and the sky transformed into a beautiful sight. The reflection of the last light of the fading day on the lake is stunning. I want to capture that orange glow; It resembles the reflection of the moon on water during a full moon.
Dover is doing its bit in the current redundant cruise liner situation by putting up the 80,000 tons of floating nonsense, Disney Magic, seen here in ironically murky conditions.
Pardon the negativity if you like this sort of thing.
I've written and rewritten this several times and I've decided to not print the screaming rant of dialog incessantly going through my mind, cross my fingers, and hope for the best. God help us all.
Rather, I'd like to say that I went ahead and paid for Pro, not that I want any of the 'perks', but because I love what we have here and I want to support it/us not just with words, but with deed. When the bug bit me I had no idea that this existed and now I've 'met' so many people from all over the world with their/your singular eyes and visions, thank you for being out there and bringing beauty into my den, sharing your humor, pains, and insights. May this year be better than last and a mere preamble to the happiness yet to be, we'll get through this together because as the man said, 'a house divided cannot stand.'
what's that? yes, I did take a three mile hike in my jammies. I was on vacation and thought there was a WalMart at the end... :)
I'd like to leave you now with one of the hundreds of thousands of people we lost this year, may none of them be forgotten.
It's all pretty dark, murky and confused at the moment, but one day the fog will clear and like this tree we will hopefully stand tall again.
