MUFC coach to summer training camp.

A quick photo of a deserted Manchester United FC stadium in Old Trafford. Photographed in April during the Covid-19 lockdown. The stadium is right next to my office. I'm mostly working from home but had to go into the office to check the post and to pick up some essential computer hardware. I used my iphone on pano mode to take this photo and cropped it using the Snapseed app.

A snapshot taken with my phone this afternoon looking out from my office window in Old Trafford, Manchester. On the left side of the rainbow is MUFC's stadium and on the right side of the rainbow is Chester Road leading into city centre Manchester.

Thanks everyone for the views, favs and comments, much appreciated.

Rotterdam 15-05-1991. There was a match between an English and a Spanish soccer team but I can't remember their names. The letters MUFC behind the window of one of the coaches sort of give the game away though... The coaches came away as far as London.

Rain clouds gathering over Manchester United FC's stadium at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon.

This is the view from the window next to my desk. I get to see the stadium in all kinds of light and weather and I've frequently photographed it over the last few years.

There were always quite a few coaches visiting MUFC home games from the south-west, but the farthest travelled at this time was usually Darley Ford Coaches. Despite the plate, this B10M / Jonckheere Bermuda ORL 74X had not been new to the operator, but had arrived from Alexandra Coaches in Sunderland in 1983 as 4758 AC, with the plate transfer having clearly been handled at the Cornish end, and it thus gained this local mark.

It left the fleet in 1987, and was briefly with a Scottish operator, but moved over to Ireland in 1988, and remained in use there until 2003.

A double rainbow forming over Manchester United FC's stadium on a stormy day at Old Trafford.

Photographed from my office on January 9th 2014.

A return visit to the M6 the following morning, to view southbound coaches taking MUFC supporters to the Charity Shield game at Wembley, yielded little in itself, but this was an unexpected bonus. A696 HNB has recently changed hands, and is now owned by the Charisma Stars dance troupe in Partington, having spent the previous 8 years with the A-Jays troupe in Bolton. At a guess, it would have been heading to an event in the Stoke-on-Trent area, as this is one of the dwindling number of areas (along with Manchester) where carnivals with dancing competitions still take place.

In contrast to the previous picture, I had an almost leisurely 5 seconds or so to grab this shot - we both joined the M6 within a few vehicles of each other at Knutsford, but even though I stopped at Sandbach 12 miles down the road, with the 50mph limit all the way down there, it still wasn't possible to pull that far ahead of it. By the time I had parked at the services, and got to the boundary fence, it was right there in front of me !

This is the view from my 8th floor office in Old Trafford looking down at Manchester United's stadium. Its not uncommon to see rainbows over the stadium in the early morning Winter light.

Another MUFC visitor from the smart Ken Hopkins operation near Neath was this Bedford YNT with Dominant IV Express body. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that it has an almost identical livery layout to the Barry Cooper Leopard - the Dominant III of course was the inspiration for that style, and everyone else was subjected to it on their vehicle, whether it suited it or not !

After 6 years here, it found an even more rural home, spending the next 7 years in Dorset County Council's school bus fleet.

Here is an unusual look at the famous Old Trafford, home of Manchester United.

This image was taken a few years ago from the Force’s helicopter.

The miniaturisation effect has been done digitally but the original technique dates from the early days of photography.

While popularly known as tilt-shift, the effect was originally achieved by using just the tilt feature of a plate camera alone.

The plate holding the lens is independently tilted through the vertical (y) axis. This allows the photographer to control the plane of focus in an image.

Using a wide aperture and adjusting the tilt to throw the background and foreground out of focus creates the familiar miniature effect. It works by fooling the eye/brain, which expect to see much greater depth of focus in large-scale subjects.
