I caught this mud hornet yesterday in the kitchen with a drinking glass. So before I let him go I took his photo (through the glass!). He wasn't happy!
Oh yuck! After a heavy rain, there are some pretty deep mud puddles around due to the (still ongoing) construction. I looked out my window and here is this guy!
Note to self... keep Diego on leash.
These are just plain Chocolate Mud cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting and some gold and silver cachous (gold ones not pictured) for a friends birthday on Friday.

Corie went just a little to far into the mud zone. Not good with rim brakes! We had to walk it down to the creek
A truck leaves the Mud Creek slide in Big Sur to pick up another load of boulders as work for a new roadway over the slide starts to come together.
The rain stopped in time for our game. But the field was a mess. The boys seemed to love playing in the mud. We hosed them off after the game.

When the Ohio River goes down and leaves a couple of feet of mud on t he boat launch ramp, someone's got to clean it up, even if it means getting wet.
Before the ride began, I was concerned that my fenders would become a huge liability, as happened in Big Bend when trying to ride on some damp mountain biking trails. The mud in Big Bend was like peanut butter and it brought the bike to a complete stop after less than 10 feet of riding. Fortunately, the mud along the soggy minimum-maintenance road wasn't quite so bad. My front wheel only got completely stuck a couple of times, and a bit of scraping with a stick freed it up. Conditions were bad enough in certain places that I had to pick up and carry the bike, which was much harder than dealing with the mud. It was a relief to get through that stretch of the ride.
