Governor Markell presented a tribute to Master Sergeant Richard Hitchens, the last active Vietnam veteran to retire from the Delaware National Guard.
The Governor joined Delaware National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Francis Vavala, MSG Richard Hitchens and his family to recognize his 42 years of service to the country. MSG Hitchens began his military career at the age of 16, serving in Vietnam and, five years ago as First Sergeant, took the Delaware National Guard 262nd Maintenance Company to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

On Camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu Dec. 18, members of the U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I community attend a farewell luncheon in honor of Master Sgt. Blake A. Kennedy. Kennedy served as the Camp Stanley installation coordinator for the past year. This is his last assignment; he will retire in January and return home to Louisiana after more than 24 years of service.
