NR47, 9321 and NR41 work 6MS2 away from Tahmoor through the Redbank tunnel deviation.

NL Vanuit de Dillingen Fordwerke rijdt Lineas (LNS) de Sitfa Ford autotrein naar de Sloehaven. Op 1 juni zien we de LNS 186 292 met een lading nieuwe automobielen op weg richting de haven van Vlissingen.

In Nederland verhuurde Angel Trains TRAXX-locomotieven van het type F 140 MS2 aan de High Speed Alliance voor de exploitatie van de HSL-Zuid. In België verhuurde Angel Trains hetzelfde type F 140 MS2 TRAXX-locomotieven aan de NMBS als reeks 28.
Vanwege de Krokusvakantie rijden er, in plaats van 1 Alpen Express, 2 Alpen Expressen op vrijdagavond van Den Haag via Venlo naar Oostenrijk. De tweede Alpen Express van de avond reed met de RXP 9901 en de 186 295 in opzending. In Venlo werd de RXP 9901 van de trein afgerangeerd en zou de 186 295 zijn weg zelfstandig vervolgen naar Köln. Nadat de 186 295 zwaar beschadigd was geraakt bij een ongeval in Deurne op 24 april 2017, is deze lok in februari 2019 weer op de baan verschenen. Zodoende staat op vrijdagavond 22 februari de in nieuwstaat verkerende 186 295 te wachten op vertrek in Venlo. De afgelopen week aangebrachte Railpool bestickering is daarbij een fraaie toevoeging.
Weil es diese Woche Fasnachtsferien ist, fahren statt 1 Alpen Express, 2 Alpen Express von Den Haag über Venlo nach Österreich. Der zweite Alpen Express des Abends führ mit RXP 9901 und die mitgegebene 186 295. In Venlo wurde RXP 9901 von der Zug rangiert, wonach 186 295 der Zug selbständig nach Köln weiter fuhr. Nachdem 186 295 bei eine Unfall in Deurne am 27. April 2017 schwer beschädigt wurde, ist diese Lokomotive in Februar 2019 wieder in Betrieb genommen. Deshalb wartet am Freitagabend des 22. Februar 2019 die Lokomotive im Neuzustand auf Weiterfahrt in Richtung Kaldenkirchen. Die letzte Wochen angebrachte Railpool beklebung ist dabei ein angenehme Ergänzung.
Because of the spring holidays, 2 Alpen Express are travelling from The Hague to Austria via Venlo instead of just 1. The second Alpen Express of the evening was lead by RXP 9901 and the 186 295 (no traction). In Venlo RXP 9901 would be shunted of the train and 186 295 would continue its journey to Cologne. After 186 295 was badly damaged at a accident at Deurne on the 24th of April 2017, the locomotive was repaired and re-entered service this February. Therefore the locomotive is waiting, looking shiny new, at the 22nd of February 2019 to continue its journey in the direction of Kaldenkirchen. The colourful Railpool stickers added this week are a welcome addition.
Leafing through a second-hand book only to find this rather nice official shot of London Country Metro-Scania MS2, with a very young-looking Preselector at the wheel. Worrying that it was taken no less than 48 years ago, even more worrying that the book was titled 'Bus Blunders'..........!

The infrastructure is massively changed, but this is still recognisable as the Ainleys A629 route out of Elland towards Huddersfield. Sharratts brickworks and the trolleybus are long gone. Left distance is Robert Dempster & Sons Ltd's Rosemount Works. Dempsters produced gas retorts and gasholders. The advent of North Sea Gas probably brought about Dempsters demise, and the works came into the ownership of Beauford Engineers, where Vic Nutton was later to work. In one of those odd quirks of fate, I worked at Beaufords as a casual labourer for 6 weeks in 1979, after leaving school and while waiting to start my 'proper' job. I've never forgotten the experience. Beaufords itself is now also long gone, but the site remains and is occupied by a number of small businesses, not all engineering or manufacturing.
