A wasp decided to photobomb my shot of this hedgehog that visited our garden the other day.

Mrs Tiggywinkle pays a call.
It's years since I've seen a hedgehog and I'd've probably missed this one if it hadn't been for the dogs telling me there was something in the garden. Luckily Tasku was behind the gate and Taivas didn't show too much interest as it was well hunkered down beside a plant pot and not easy to get to.
What a cute face it has.

Yay, my little hedgehog is back again, tinking her dish around outside my back door for an egg! I love to see her after hibernation so I can see she's ok, but this time I can see she has lost a lot of weight, and she was literally covered in ticks. We must have removed about 50 of the horrible things over the last two nights, all from around her face and ears. Her left eye is quite puffy because of them, if it doesn't clear up it will a trip to the vets for her. There are still some ticks, but I will get them tomorrow, she must get fed up with being manhandled when all she wants to do is eat and eat and eat! Dinner tonight was a fresh egg, beef cat food and cat biscuits, with a side serving of chopped peanuts and a little bit of cheese! Delicious!!!
This is one of the four tiny orphan hedgehogs I hand-reared a couple of years ago, she is the only one to stick around as far as I know - last year she brought home her two babies to show me!

Beatrix Potter's Lake District home at Hill Top Farm in Sawrey near Ambleside.
The property including 4000 acres of farmland, 16 farms, cottages along with herds of cattle and sheep was gifted to the National Trust when she died in 1943 and the house has been preserved as she left it with many of her original possessions on display. It is well worth a visit if you enjoy her works.
The property is located approximately 6 miles from Ambleside on the B5285 near Esthwaite Water and the village of Hawkshead.
Toy Sunday Theme: Decades -- the 60's
I've been experimenting with different ways of getting my entire collection of toy hedgehogs into one pic. Over the weekend, I first tried posing them on tiered blocks, and then tried stitching several photos together-- but I was not happy with any of my results. When this week's theme was announced -- the 60's and Sgt. Pepper came to mind, and I realised I might be able to kill two birds with one stone.

I just found out today that you can have your cake and eat it too! After further investigation, I found that the Moomins were attached to their boxes by elastic straps that could easily be moved. Once the Domos found out about this, they quickly removed the bands and my flocked Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden were free to join their new friends.

I noticed this hedgehog ambling along by the side of a B road in the north Pennines. I'm afraid that she was a bit old and tired and probably not long for this world. She couldn't curl up into a ball, even though at one point she tried. I managed to coax her onto the grass verge before leaving her.
My flocked toys have been in an uproar since these new, mint-in-the-box Moomins arrived yesterday, courtesy of Mister Mushroom. Half of them would like them to come out and and "join the flock", but the other half thinks that they should stay new in their boxes. Either way, I'm super pleased to have them. THANK YOU MISTER MUSHROOM.

Hinderwell and Port Mulgrave Scarecrow Festival 2017
I read about this art installation in the Metro the other day. The artist has used Beatrix Potter characters to depict the homeless. 'By casting characters from Edwardian children's tales in contemporary urban situations, Ford asks questions about our throwaway culture while the sentimentality of Potter's original stories is given a far darker undercurrent'. It's on at the Economist Plaza until 1st Feb. 25 St James Street London (nr Picadilly)
In Matlock (Town). We were looking for somewhere to have an evening meal.
The local chip shop was only doing take aways (restaurant not open at 7pm), so we headed to the local Wetherpoon's instead!

My three dogs were very interested but gentle with the tiny visitor.
One photograph for the record, then he was on his way discovering my garden and the feast of slugs and snails awaiting.

I loved the little books by Beatrix Potter from the first time I saw them, and still do.

The Mrs. Tiggy Winkle's/Lost Marbles in Westboro closes for good today.
Since announcing the closing of this location, Mrs. Tiggy Winkle's has announced that all of their locations will be closing.
Mrs. Tiggy Winkle's has been around since I was a kid, and it's going to be very sad to see another locally owned business going away.
When I got back into collecting lego as an adult, Mrs. Tiggy Winkle's was the first place I went to.
For years I have wanted to get my mitts on a hedgehog, to have a good look, I was bought up on Beatrice potter and tales of Mrs Tiggywinkle, Peter Rabbit and jeremy Fisher. People warned me not to touch it, that it would "rip my arms to pieces"that was not the case it was a gentle little thing. I caught two, this was the second, I had gained confidence at handling them and now knew I had a knack for catching them.
