Taken during last months Photo24 event, this shot of the Thomas Heatherwick 'Angel wings' vents was taken with a 10.5mm Nikon fisheye lens that the sponsors MPB kindly lent me.

From 'Learning to look at sculpture' by Mary Acton, "At the end of a narrow pedestrian alleyway off Paternoster Square near St. Paul’s Cathedral in London are a pair of stainless-steel “angel’s wings” 11 meters high. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the sculpture actually serves a practical purpose: It provides ventilation for an electrical substation below ground. Cool air is sucked in through grids on the ground, and hot air is conducted through the sculpture and released high overhead.
“The commissioner had been exploring options that involved creating a single structure that housed both inlet vents and outlet vents,” Heatherwick wrote. “It made a large bulky object that dominated the public square around it, reducing it to little more than a corridor. As this was a sensitive location near St. Paul’s, we decided to make it our priority to shrink the visible mass of the vent structure to a minimum.”"

A sunrise photo of the London Eye taken from Westminster Bridge.
Participating in the annual Photo24 event gives me the opportunity to take such shots, as long as the weather plays ball......

From Wikipedia, "The London Eye, or the Millennium Wheel, is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. It is Europe's tallest cantilevered observation wheel, and is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3 million visitors annually. It has made many appearances in popular culture.
The structure is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft). When it opened to the public in 2000 it was the world's tallest Ferris wheel. Its height was surpassed by the 160 metres (525 ft) Star of Nanchang in 2006, the 165 metres (541 ft) Singapore Flyer in 2008, and the 167 metres (548 ft) High Roller (Las Vegas) in 2014. Supported by an A-frame on one side only, unlike the taller Nanchang and Singapore wheels, the Eye is described by its operators as "the world's tallest cantilevered observation wheel".
The London Eye used to offer the highest public viewing point in London until it was superseded by the 245-metre-high (804 ft) observation deck on the 72nd floor of The Shard, which opened to the public on 1 February 2013."

Photo taken with a Nikon Z 24-200 lens which I bought secondhand recently from MPB.com after selling them 3 older AF-S lenses including 16-35, 24-120 and 70-300. As a result I'm now only using 2 lenses on my Nikon Z7ii and it all fits in one small camera bag. I've been really impressed with the quality of the images and small size/weight of the Z 14-30 and 24-200.
