Generationen von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts Vorfahren lebten in Augsburg und Umgebung. Sein Vater Leopold wurde in Augsburg geboren.

Generations of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's ancestors lived in Augsburg and the surrounding area. His father Leopold was born in Augsburg.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart[a] (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical period.

Born in Salzburg, in the Holy Roman Empire, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his early death at the age of 35. The circumstances of his death have been much mythologized.

He composed more than 600 works, many of which are acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is considered among the greatest classical composers of all time, and his influence on Western music is profound. Ludwig van Beethoven composed his early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote: "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years".

He lived in Paris in 1778. (from Wikipedia)

Happy 265th Birthday, Wolfie!

The Symphony No. 31 in D major, K. 297/300a, better known as the Paris Symphony, is one of the most famous symphonies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The work was composed in 1778 during Mozart's unsuccessful job-hunting sojourn in Paris. The composer was then 22 years old. "Mozart's Paris Symphony is quite noisy. It has vigorous, stirring tuttis, with a lively violin line and an active line for the basses, lending the music extra animation. The actual thematic matter is relatively conventional, more a matter of figures than melodies, but there is not development as such, and most of the working-out of ideas comes at their presentation."

I took the photograph of this giant and beautiful oak tree in Seeon, Bavaria near by the Monastery Seeon.

I have again researched for Steffi why this oak is called Mozart Oak ... and found the following in Wikipedia:

Until secularization, the Benedictine monastery of Seeon was also a place of scholarship and culture: Haydn was a guest and Mozart worked here between 1767 and 1769. Mozart wrote for the Kloster Seeon two offertories: Scande coeli limina (KV 34, 1769) and Internatos Mulierum (KV 72, 1771). The so-called Mozarteiche, under which he was supposed to have enjoyed the tradition, continues to grow on Lake See.

The Sankt Marx cemetery is W. A. Mozart's final resting place, where he was buried in a common grave in 1791.

The Biedermeier cemetery is no longer used as a cemetery and has been converted into a park.

Here, as in some other Viennese parks and cemeteries, there is a population of field hamsters, a protected species threatened with extinction.

I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and photogenic New Year!

The Mozart Monument is a monument located in the Burggarten in the Innere Stadt district of Vienna, Austria since 1953. It is dedicated to composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791).

This 7.5-meter-high statue was made by architect Karl König [de] (1841–1915) and sculptor Viktor Tilgner (1844–1896) and was unveiled at Albertinaplatz on April 21, 1896, five days after Tilgner died. Tilgner's signature was completed with his death date.
