It took 2.5 hours to traverse the 1.5-mile connecting ridge from Mount Rahm to summit of Mount Custer. Hard to imagine Silver Lake was sitting 2,000 feet at the bottom and just how incredibly blue it was. There's a wee bit of Ross Lake in the far-right middle, with Hozomeen Mountain situated behind the lake.
North view of the infamous yet spectacular Mox Peaks SE (left) and NW, aka Twin Spires, nicknamed Hard Mox and Easy Mox, respectively. Enjoyed the daunting view from Mount Custer summit while mentally preparing myself for the climb in two days.
There is corner of your subconscious mind where you lock away the memories of special things and never, ever forget them. Those memories can come flooding back years later triggered by something quite simple like the smell of clear Highland rain on fresh pine needles.
Embarking on day two's adventure and looking back down at Ouzel Lake where I spent the first two nights. Mox Peaks (Twin Spires) left of Redoubt Glacier and Mount Redoubt on the right, which I would be tackling on day three.
The darker side of the River Rhône is the abundance of nuclear power stations and research facilities along its banks due to their need for cooling water. This is the Marcoule facility at Codolet, a site where tritium and MOX fuel are generated by fast breeder reactors. There are also a number of decommissioned reactors on the site. An explosion occurred here in 2011, but fortunately caused relatively little environmental damage.
The pylons make me think of 'War of the Worlds' as they march across the landscape.

Last and final goal for this trip--SE Mox Peak! Tents belonged to two other Seattle Mountaineers groups. One group took a rest day and the other broke off into two groups to Mount Redoubt and NW Mox Peak.
After a mile-long talus plus scree side traverse from camp, we entered the rockfall paradise between the two notorious spires.
SANTA RITA, Guam (March 17, 2021) Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4 load civil engineer support equipment (CESE) aboard the Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport ship USNS Fall River (T-EPF-4) during a mount-out exercise (MOX) on board Naval Base Guam. During the MOX, the Seabees demonstrated their CESE embark skillset and exchanged knowledge with the Military Sealift Command (MSC) crew, enhancing readiness. NMCB 4 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States ready to support major combat operations and theater security.
