Malvins Hot Mower

The setup is straight forward, with three flashes:

- Two Nikon SB-910 on a boom mounted on a Lastolite tri-flash, shooting into a white reflective umbrella. Zoomed to 24mm, 1/2 power. Placed above and slightly in front of the subject, pointing down.

- One Quadra Action head on an ELB-400, power setting 4.0 on a Manfrotto nano stand behind the subject, pointing up.

The smoke machine is tilted by a foam board between the subject and the lawn mower, and is activated by a foot remote.

The flashes were all triggered using Phottix Odin transmitters/receivers, in manual mode.

This is the first in my series of Interesting Lawn Mowers.

A random snapshot of a large Komatsu PC228USLC excavator brush cutting some thick undergrowth as well as small trees that are along a one hundred Ampere electrical power line right-of-way that is also along an abandoned railroad grade in Brookhaven, Mississippi on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

The excavator is owned and operated by Buford's Construction Company, a contractor that is based in Lincoln, Alabama and they were hired by Entergy of Mississippi to cut and clear a power line right-of-way so they can replace the older timber poles with either steel or concrete poles with an additional set of three-phase power lines to supply electrical power to the growing Rex Lumber Company's Brookhaven Mill.

Today is also known as ''Twosday'' for the date is mostly consistent with the number two.

This edge mower was cleaning up the roadsides in the rain. It sure beats using a weed whacker!

My buddy Tim mows lawns in the summer in addition to his job as an electrician. He's awfully fond of his Walker mower.

Talyllyn Railway self propelled flail mower. Designed by John Bate (Chief Engineer 1963-1994) and built from chassis components from two Ruston & Hornsby locomotives, the framing and motor components of a Smalley excavator, the flail mechanism and cab from a McConnel flail mower and a new Perkins diesel power unit. Tywyn, 25th August 2007.

Well, a very dead mower anyway. This was my Dad's Suffolk Punch - about 1963 I think.

Spotted this "mower" at the Big Chair on Route 66.

Leaving work today...looks like the campus mower hit a rock...big rock.

I have several lawn mower trading cards which seemed to have their heyday between 1880 and 1900. I always thought, "well maybe it was a woman's job 125 years ago".. Then it was explained that most lawn mower trade cards wanted to show the consumer that these farm implements were so easy to use that a women or a child could operate them. Sounds like the beginning of a male conceived plot! Kendall ^ Whitney was established in 1858 and I think in some capacity still exists today!

Shay No. 5 -- (Mower No. 5) – C/N 1503, 1905; Class 80-3. Lima Locomotive Works.

Built for the original Cass-based railroad, West Virginia Spruce Lumber Co.’s Greenbrier & Elk River R.R. Shay 5 is the oldest and longest-operating Shay at Cass.

Train is loading passengers in front of the Cass Company Store. The open car in front of the engine gives the die hard railfans a real treat when the engine backs up on the switchback.

first try with the Aero Ektar using a paper negative. While the mower was meant to be in focus as it was using the focusing loupe the overall look was what I was hoping for...onward to try, try, try again : )

99-365 - This is my lawn mower. I got it out of the garage today to do the first grass cutting of the season. It works great and it dosen't need any gas or does it pollute the air. I have been known to make motor noise with my mouth as I am cutting the grass.

Lego vignette: Mowers

My brother killed his shin's on shooting this. This explains the motion blur with my upper body. I was laughing too hard.. 30 secs is a long time to not move after hearing him run into the back of the mower.. We ran out of fireworks and he was hurting to bad to attempt it again. Inspired by back to future.. Hopefully get to try this again soon.
