Hohenschwangau Castle or Schloss Hohenschwangau (lit: High Swan County Palace) is a 19th century palace in southern Germany. It was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and was built by his father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria. It is located in the German village of Hohenschwangau near the town of Füssen, part of the county of Ostallgäu in southwestern Bavaria, Germany, very close to the border with Austria.

India, Goa, Cavelossim beach,

…after a scrumptious grilled-seafood-dinner on the beach,

a little “moon walk” on the beach, the palm leaves sway slowly in the warm sea breeze, from a distance the wind softly brings the sound of music to the beach,

…perfect to end the day at the Mobor section on the south tip of the almost 30 km long white sandy beach.

Today was one of those lazy days when it comes to photography, I kept putting off picking up the camera and finally as the light was starting to sink I figured I'd better get moving.

What better for a day of procrastinating than a photo of a motivator... that and I was a little stumped on inspiration and coffee is always a good model!

Anyway hope everyone has had a good day, and a Happy Independence Day to all my American friends!

Another crazy Steampunk image. It has a full complement of obligatory, yet redundant clocks and goggles.

Sorry no gears or spicy leather outfit in this one. Maybe next time if this one gets 100 faves.

I hope you like it.

When i found this box at springtime this year, i never thought of using this miracle box. my curiosity won out and this was an absolutely drastic experience for me. I was very moved by how easy and interesting it is to take pictures like this. 100 years later, the camera still serves its purpose. without battery, without electricity, without firmware. just pull the trigger, rotate and change film when full :)

aware that we are raping and destroying the earth more and more, this moment with the camera hit me extremely deeply in my mind. with this in mind: let's change the system together!

poor in means but rich in spirit, that is the only capital one can have!

Stay healthy and motivate us to change. Cheers✌

O.k., maybe this is a quite a weird one... ;o)

Motivated because of an invitation into the beautiful "Art of Bokeh" group I grabbed my crazy Trioplan 2.8/100, one of my crystal balls and saw the new LED chain of lights lying around - spacy, hu?

Here’s another one of my favorite New Zealand images, probably because it was so unexpected: After a wonderful sunset at Wharariki Beach at the North tip of the South Island, we spent the night at the campsite and decided to hike back to the beach for sunrise. However, on the way there we noticed that the sun was rising in the “wrong” direction, exactly opposite to the famous Archway Islands. Nevertheless, we were extremely motivated and keen to see what compositions this morning had to offer, and on our way down to the sands this lone cabbage tree immediately caught my attention as the backlight created a really nice silhouette that stood out against the beautifully colored morning sky. I hope you like it! :)

Riding a bike is the best way to get up into Zion Canyon to photograph the Milky Way. The road is closed off to private vehicles except during the winter months. A few days ago I went in and photographed the Milky Way from Angel's Landing. I was pretty motivated to get up there quickly and managed to ride from Canyon Junction and hike up Angel's Landing in a little over an hour. On my way back, I thought it would be neat to show how I got up there, so I stopped along the road and took this shot. This is a single image exposure with the Sony A7r II. Learn how to take and post-process night shots like these on our August Milky Way workshop. We still have a few spots left!

Of course she was motivating me to stay home and give her cheese instead of going for a bike ride… but still motivating me.

Germany, Lake Constance, Unteruhldingen, the “Pfahlbauten”, finds & replicas of the stone & bronze age lake dwellings, 4.000 to 850 BC, at the Lake Constance archaeological outdoor museum

A scientific research institute is connected to the museum. In June 2011, the remains of many historical pile dwellings, including the about 500 meters south of the museum located pile “Baufeld Unteruhldingen” cleats meadows were included on the List of World Heritage by UNESCO.

I'm alive! This was a Seed Part Challenge build done at Brickslopes 2015. We had an hour and a half to use our seed part, the blue 1x2x3 slopes, in any build of our choice. Thanks to some parts I brought, and lucky golden greeble picks in drafts the day before, I was able to win the competition. It's supposed to be a steampunk starfighter based off of a globe on a stand.

On another note, I am back for good. I am launching a YouTube channel for my builds, and will be posting at least once every couple weeks. I have a backlog of builds to post, so get hyped. I'm glad to be back, and to be a part of such an incredible community of builders, you guys are what keep me motivated to build. :)

Seriously? A motivator? Man, they were so uncreative with names in Episode IV.

Motivate. Your self.

This apple came from some friends who farm not too far away. The trees were on their farm when they bought it a few years ago, and they don't know the variety. Many of them are quite enormous and they're deliciously tart, but not sour. There are loads of drops and insect-nibbled ones that we're welcome to, and my eyes get wide as saucers when I think of what that could mean.

My dreams of channeling Ma Ingalls and becoming a food preservationist extraordinaire remain, well, the stuff of my daydreams. It's hard to get ahead when our life feels so busy, and when so much of our energy and wonder these days is directed at the little monkey in my belly.

But bit by bit, year by year, we get closer to this ideal I've got in my head. This afternoon our 60 meat birds will meet their maker. We got a milk goat this year! And our chest freezer is ever full.

I guess it's okay if I never find myself doing it all. It's motivating and fun to work toward a thing, you know?

I think of this beautiful scenery of the distant mesas I will see from the walking path on Scenic to motivate me to walk daily. Best viewed large (not really best viewed in person!)

My earlier photo, during the day, made me long for more. The Point offers you a wonderful view. So, I picked the blue hour for the second shot.

The bundle of light on the left side is a Brittany’s ferry slowly passing by; coming in from Bilbao, Spain. Sailing time is 24 hours.

Portsmouth (a.k.a. Pompey) is a port city and naval base on England’s south coast, situated on the Portsea Island. It’s known for its maritime heritage and Portsmouth historic dockyards.

Here you see the Spinnaker Tower, as part of the urban re-development of what had once been HM Gunwharf, Portsmouth. This was one of several such facilities which were established around Britain and the Empire by the Board of Ordnance, where cannons, ammunition and other armaments were stored, repaired and serviced ready for use on land or at sea. Later known as HMS Vernon, the military site closed in 1995. It opened to the public as Gunwharf Quays after six years of reconstruction; which included the restoration of some of the surviving 18th and 19th-century Gun Wharf buildings. The landmark Spinnaker Tower opened on October 2005 a few years later.

The Spinnaker Tower is a 170 metres (560 ft) landmark observation tower. Being taller than London Eye, Blackpool Tower and Big Ben, the Spinnaker Tower has established itself as one of the national icons of Britain. Its shape was chosen by Portsmouth residents from a selection of entries. The tower, designed by local architectural firm called “HGP Architects” and engineering consultants Scott Wilson. It was built by Mowlem. Obviously, it reflects Portsmouth's maritime history through its modelled sail; a spinnaker.

Not close up!

Gunwharf Quays is now a waterfront outlet shopping center. Although, there are no gates, notices/signs or a visible entrance, it is not a public space. Private company rules apply. And one of them is that is not allowed to take pictures with the help of a three legged thing. Security is pretty strict about this. The many CCTV cams smell you from miles away. Although I was approached by a nice and very understanding security guard (who let me finish 1 or 2 photos during his lecture on the rules), I finally opted for an angle a bit further away; from The Point.

Technical stuff

This HDR consisting of one photo. The shot was done at 250ISO, f20, 30 seconds and 18mils. That I only used 30 seconds was motivated by the fact that the ferry at a longer exposure would no longer be recognisable as a ship but just white lines 😉.

De HDR process was done with the help of Aurora HDR 2018. Further post-production was done in Adobe Lightroom CC. It included, balancing the lighting, giving the image a bit more umph by using the curve tool, sharpening the image with the use of a High Pass tool and highlighting the dynamic nature of the ferry. Finally I added some small copyright signs. The latter is, alas, there to stay due to the frequent copying of my photos. So, don't bother commenting on that.

Along with The Crowns at Boallack , the Towenroath Shaft Engine House is one of the most photographed enginehouses of the mining areas of Cornwall .

Perched half way down the cliff , it is quite a sight to see .

Wheal Coates tin mine opened in 1802 and worked until 1889. The image of the Towanroath Shaft engine house, famous on postcards, calendars, and on the telly represents for many the serene beauty of the north Cornish coast. In reality this industrial landscape holds a harsh and austere history.

The life of a Cornish miner was tough.

Working deep underground in cramped and stifling conditions meant that miners were thought of as worn out and old by the time they were 40. The air in the mine was thick with powder smoke, dust and fumes from rock blasting that miners often coughed up black phlegm. Many suffered with bronchitis, silicosis, TB and rheumatism. Accidents caused by explosions, falling, rock falls, drowning and entanglement in machinery were a real danger and took many lives.

Woman were employed as Bal maidens, wielding hammers and crushing copper ore into smaller fragments. By the early nineteenth century over 7000 children were working in Cornish mines, initially above ground doing menial tasks, but when they were twelve they joined their fathers underground.

At its peak Cornish mining employed upwards of 30,000 people. In the mid nineteenth century the industry began to decline, and in 1875 over 10,000 miners left Cornwall to find work overseas. The skills and experience of Cornish mining spread across the world. They also took the pasty with them.

There are over 160 places, across six continents, where Cornish mine workers took their skills, technology and traditions; a truly global heritage. Cornwall and west Devon’s mining landscape, shaped during a period of intense industrial activity, is testimony to one of the greatest periods of economic, technological and social development Britain has ever known.

From 1700 to 1914, the metal mining industry played a vital role in transforming our way of life. It provided essential raw materials to feed the Industrial Revolution in Britain, and pioneered technological developments that helped shape the society we live in today. For example, Richard Trevithick’s advances in steam engine technology – originally motivated by the need to pump water out of mines – ultimately enabled the development of steam trains, changing the world forever through the mass movement of people and goods.

World Heritage

On 13 July 2006 select mining landscapes across Cornwall and West Devon were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, placing Cornish mining heritage on a par with international treasures like Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.
