Thursday night at the annual beer festival is silly hat night. If you are wearing a silly hat you get 50p discount on a half pint, and £1 discount on a pint of real ale. CAMRA stewards walk through the crowd between 7pm and 9pm to judge the best silly hat and the winner gets a whole cask of ale to take home. After 9pm, when a siren blares every 15 minutes, everyone must swap hats. Last orders is at 10.30pm and shortly afterwards the public are made to leave, but if you are wearing a silly hat you can stay for the beer festival lock-in until 2am and all of the food is free.
