UP MCBSX rolls north through Loveland, IA sporting a tagged SD40N leader. CN's ex-IC Council Bluffs branch runs on the pictured overpass, and the train itself would duck under it very shortly after as well.

And I'd rather play here

Phoenix, AZ. I hate to see a dead tree. But at least I can preserve it in a photo.

deliberate motion blur, just a bit of color enhancement & cropping

I have a fan/light combination. The one on the right with the bell shaped end turns on the fan. The one on the left turns on the light. I cropped closely so as to get them in the 3 inch boundary. I like how the small beads on the right turned into lines when I swung the chain.

I'm gonna take my jeep to the old town road

I'm gonna drive til I can't no more...

The theme for this coming Friday for the Looking Close on Friday group is motion blur. And I am obstinately determined to give it a try using my iPhone camera. Does anybody have any hints? Ways to “trick” the camera into using a slower shutter speed? I have an SE2020 and haven’t gotten any apps for it yet.

……..(Btw, this is the top of a whipped cream can and I moved the camera not the top.)

It seems the ICM measurement problem solution is found:)

2 mm painted white steel ball jumping on granite tile

OK, dark room, exposure long enough to allow ball to travel through the whole frame. Strong side light set @ 4500K to make trace yellowish. Side flash in repeating mode. Adjust frequency so you get desired "number" of balls. Number of flashes to cover whole trace. Flash color is 5000-5500K, which illuminates the ball when it freezes. Trace is 4500K. This slight color difference makes ball pop. Apparently, the hardest part is to eliminate light reflections on the dark background, so set it as far back as possible. Try it, it's not that hard as it sounds

Re-kindling an obsession

Whenever I’m in London, I get slightly obsessed by The Tube. Even on a short visit, I managed to get a few shots. The first one – taken en route to The Map House (see yesterday’s entry) – was the impressive entrance to South Kensington Station.
