Hope your Mother's Day was a very happy one.

Taken at the tulip field in Woodland WA last month.

I hope you all have a wonderful day with family and if your mother is still alive, enjoy your day with her. Mine passed in 2005- so this holiday is bitter sweet for me.

Happy Mother’s Day to all! Especially my mom Maurine, we call her Sheba. Mom, you make the world a better place every day. Everything you have done in your life, for me, for everyone, you are the mother of us all. I am blessed to be your first born, and thanks for always making me feel like the most special person on the planet.

If I could make a day for you, I would be like the ghost of Christmas past. I’d take you to our house on Harbor, the house on Helmer, and the house on Zang. You’d see all our ancestors on the journey, Grandma Bert, Grandpa Ivan, Grandpa Albert, Grandma Sahnee, Grandma Ruth…everyone. I’d take you to the day you bought the piano, taught me to draw, taught me to sing, and took me to my first ballet lesson. I’d take you to raising baby squirrels, and teaching me to make goulash, scalloped corn, and many other things. I think of you, every day. Every artistic talent I have, I get from you, and I’m so excited about the book.

For those of you who have been urging me to write a book or two about Sandhill Cranes, they are in full swing, and my mom is illustrating the children’s book.

Regarding the shot: This is one of the first photos of Cherry and the chicks this year. Free is on the left, Style is still sleepy, having just hatched. I haven’t gotten as many shots of the chicks this year as I expected to mostly because of the drama with Classic’s foot, his rescue, etc. I’m just glad they are all alive and doing well. I have to wish Cherry a Happy Mother’s Day too. She did a great job of taking care of two chicks on her own while Classic was in rehab.

Love, hugs and thanks for viewing! =o)

Our son was born Apr 23, 1955, in San Diego, California.

On August 16, 2012, we will celebrate our 59th year together.

We have never loved each other more that we do today.

It's been a real ride.

Great times!

Hard times.

Fun times.

Sad times.

But love has always been there.

And God continues to lead us.

He never promised the cross wouldn't be heavy.

WT

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers...my salute to all mothers on the eve of Mother's day..thanks for making us what we are today

COUNTRY RED & HORSERADISH SAUCE

From Ken Goff, former chef for many years at The Dakota Bar and Grill in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ken uses this sauce for the Dakota's Beef Tenderloin Salad and suggests using it with any number of hot or cold meats such as lamb, chicken or leftover roast beef.

Here is a link describing the wine that I used in this sauce

abvwines.com/country_red.html

1/4 bottle Alexis Bailly Vineyard Country Red Wine

3 tablespoons prepared horseradish

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup sour cream

pinch or 2 of ground pepper

1/3 teaspoon coarse sea salt

1/2 teaspoon red wine vinegar

1 large peeled clove of garlic

In a non-reactive pan, reduce the wine to 1 and 1/2 tablespoons and let cool to room temperature. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree very smooth. Remove to a serving or storage container and chill. Keeps one week refridgerated.

Makes about 1 and 1/2 cups for 6 - 8 servings.

Strange silence led me to a deserted meadow. Actually, it was not so lonely. There stood one tree in the middle of meadow with background of forest. During the journey, I sing the song Feeling Good by Nina Simone. Yes, I felt good. The wind rake the hair and pushes back. I probably would not stop, but still go. The sky was still clouded over and the weather is getting tough. I'm not afraid. I'm going for it. I'm going for my hope. And I am feeling good.

A nice day out for Mothers Day with my mum, dad and gorgeous boyfriend, visiting the gardens in Mt Wilson and a picnic lunch. It was a freezing cold but still an enjoyable day!!!

I feel like baking and decorating cupcakes this morning and so here it is. My daughter asks me why I am baking cupcakes and I replied back for no any reason at all and just for picture purposes only. Then she asked me if she can have some. I replied back with “Of course”. Then she replied back, “oh, I thought it’s only for picture purposes like you said mom”.

While downloading the photos, a poem came to mind:

Mother’s Love

By © 2012 Aileen Sorenson

A mother’s love is one of the greatest gifts that the earth can offer

Without a mother’s love, the earth is almost to nothing

A mother’s love can heal everything and almost to anything

The mother’s love teaches a child to give love unquestioningly

A mother’s love we cannot replace or pay it much

A mother’s love will do everything and not to expect in return much

That mother’s love we ought to keep in our heart,

As that mother’s love we can pass on to our kids and share the love

Day 1 - Mother's Day, 5/13/2012.

This scene was a Mother’s Day photo op waiting to happen, although I didn’t think of that at the time. I was just happy to be out walking again with Oscar, The Big White Dog, and finding such a delightful subject to photograph.

I was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2012, and had surgery May 10th. Not sure what the next year will look like, but I thought I’d like to keep a journal, and Flickr 365 seems like a natural way for me to capture the coming days.
