Sunrise light in the forest
It's spring , and spring is late this year because of the many frosty days we've had in the winter.
But this is the time that I can, at a normal, though early, time, can take a photo of some mist and the sunrise in the forest. So I went out , once more, to that forest where I mostly feel at home. Don't thinks it's a big forest, it's just a small one, called the Vrijenburgerbos. Sometimes I get the crazy idea that Mother Nature made this little forest especially for me. Enjoy the scenes!
A veces encontramos nuestro destino, por los caminos que tomamos para evitarlo /

Geyser field in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. The reddish colors and the serpentine lines are caused by the growth of microbes (extremophiles) which thrive in near-boiling conditions. It is easy to imagine standing on another planet when one experiences this landscape.
At the brink of blue hour, this afterburner sunset lit up the Metro Vancouver ( south/west ) sky for New Year's Day/Evening.
The image was captured at Steveston's Harbour.
Richmond, British Columbia Canada
The colours were so intense that my camera's sensor had trouble reading the sky.
People were absolutely mesmerized by this surprise light show that took to the sky.
The sunset magically appeared in hues of intense pink, purple, orange and yellow. A colourful contrast to the blue hour.
It had been drizzling light rain and the sky grew dark, turning into a typical winter's night, when out of no where appears this NEW YEAR encore.
I had to drop the saturation during processing, however the image still remains vibrantly coloured and lit.
Happy January 1st, 2020 !

The look you give when you are simply trying to mark your territory but the clicking sound from some guy’s camera is so irritating!
From the archives and just dusted off…At over seven feet tall this male Coastal Brown Bear (Grizzly) was the largest that was seen on our trip. He displayed several battle scars some old, some very new. When I first captured him, I thought I was seeing a leaf on his right cheek…unfortunately for him, it was his right cheek! An older scar can be seen between his eyes, a newer on his throat.
He would rub the branches around his eyes and mouth to leave his scent. Should another male pick up his scent, how high up the source is on the tree indicated his size. A pretty good system if you think about it!

Yesterday afternoon I decided to take a short walk along the stream.
In Bergöschingen near Hohentengen.
You don't always have to travel to the most exclusive places in the world to see breathtaking places, mostly it's enough to just go to your doorstep and appreciate your own landscape.
“Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.”
― Henry David Thoreau
A Blue Heron awaits the warmth of the sunrise along the beaches of Ft. Pickens, Florida.
And yes, I nearly blinded myself capturing this shot!

Picture taken at Mandu beach, Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia. A stunningly beautiful part of the world not visited by many.
I used a GoPro after I swam out of the reef during the day's snorkeling. As the picture quality of this action cam is not the best ( I usually use the Go Pro for video rather than stills) the image required significant editing in Lightroom and Photoshop. I did not have my Canon DLSRs with me so used what I had with me feeling compelled to capture this remote and magnificently beautiful location.
Incredibly the Sweet Gum tree in my garden is still hanging on to a few of its leaves even through the wind and incessant rain of a dark December. It reminds me of the fact that no one can outdo Mother Nature when it comes to decorating.

Be in awe of Mother Nature
"In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they're still beautiful." (Alice Walker) --- If we can't be in awe of Mother Nature, there's something wrong with us. Our planet is a cleverly devised ecosystem where everything has a purpose. What's ours? Apart from destruction. Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better, Albert Einstein once said. I hope we will understand soon, before it's too late.
