La grande mosquée de Paris est une mosquée française construite dans le style hispano-mauresque avec un minaret de 33 mètres. Elle est située 6, rue Georges-Desplas dans le quartier du Jardin-des-Plantes du 5e arrondissement de Paris. La mosquée, inaugurée le 15 juillet 1926, a été construite au nom de la Société des habous des lieux saints de l’islam. Elle est la plus ancienne des mosquées de France métropolitaine servant au culte.
L’histoire de la mosquée de Paris est liée à la colonisation. Elle fut conçue comme un geste pour commémorer la mort des soldats indigènes lors de la Première Guerre mondiale.

Today I visited the Great Mosque of Paris, I had wanted to do it for a long time. I don't regret it, it really is magical and the interior garden is a haven of peace and freshness.
The Great Mosque of Paris is a French mosque built in the Hispano-Moorish style with a 33-meter minaret. It is located at 6, rue Georges-Desplas in the Jardin-des-Plantes district of the 5th arrondissement of Paris. The mosque, inaugurated on July 15, 1926, was built in the name of the Society of Habous of the Holy Places of Islam. It is the oldest of the mosques in metropolitan France used for worship.
The history of the Paris mosque is linked to colonization. It was designed as a gesture to commemorate the deaths of indigenous soldiers in the First World War.

J'ai beaucoup aimé cette visite, le lieux est agréable, ombragé et propice à la réflexion, le tout dans un style hispano-mauresque qui m'a donné envie d'aller à Grenade, dans la région de l'Andalousie au sud de l'Espagne, dans les contreforts des montagnes de la Sierra Nevada. Elle est réputée pour ses bâtiments à l'architecture médiévale datant de l'occupation mauresque, en particulier l'Alhambra.
petite question : quel thème soutien vous voir dans mes prochaines photographie ?
I no longer present the places to you, that's what I've been doing since the beginning of the week.
I really liked this visit, the place is pleasant, shady and conducive to reflection, all in a Hispano-Moorish style which made me want to go to Granada, in the Andalusia region south of Spain, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is famous for its buildings with medieval architecture dating from the Moorish occupation, in particular the Alhambra.

Imagine two persons at both ends of the spectrum Orient-Occident, a Roman emperor and an Arab Caliph. Nothing seems different. Yet the first was the son of an Arab sheikh of a city adjacent to the Syrian desert, the second had blue eyes and blond hair. The first was the Roman emperor Philip, said the Arab, who reigned in the third century and celebrated the millennium of Rome, the second Caliph Abderrahman III, ruler of Andalusia at its peak in the tenth century.
Arab history is often viewed as beginning with Islam. But the Arabs have a history going back thousands of years before-one, furthermore, intimately bound up with European history and identity. Arab kingdoms in the Near East had a dramatic impact upon the Romans from the first century BC, and by the third AD Arab emperors were ruling in Rome itself. Even long before the Romans, the Arabs' forbears, the Phoenicians, were exploring the coasts of England and West Africa and colonizing much of Spain, Sicily and North Africa in the early first millennium BC. The Arabs were to continue this tradition of world penetration long before the European "Age of Expansion." Islam, therefore, was as much a culmination as a beginning.

Imaginons deux figures aux deux bouts du spectre Orient-Occident, un empereur romain et un calife arabe. Rien ne semble plus différent. Et pourtant, le premier était le fils d’un cheikh arabe d’une ville syrienne jouxtant le désert, le second avait les yeux bleus et les cheveux blonds. Le premier était l’empereur romain Philippe, dit l’Arabe, qui régna au IIIe siècle et célébra le millénaire de Rome, le second le calife Abderrahman III, souverain de l’Andalousie à son apogée, au Xe siècle. When you leave the Jardin des Plantes at the side of the Muséum National you end up on Rue Geoffroy Saint Hilaire. From there, there's a bus that goes to the 4th ARR, crossing Pont de Sully and Ile Saint Louis. We took the bus and left at the Hôtel de Ville. But not before we had tea in the gardens of the Mosquée de Paris, opposite the bus stop at the corner of Rue Daubenton and Rue Geoffroy Saint Hilaire.

No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the Latin Quarter in the 5th arrondissement, on the Left Bank. The area’s many cafés and restaurants are laid-back and welcoming; they are filled with Parisians, students and tourists. There are several attractions to visit, among them the Pantheon, the Musée National du Moyen-Âge, the Luxembourg gardens and museum and the Arènes de Lutèce. As you stroll through the district you will also come across the Sorbonne, the best known university in Paris; the Collège de France, the Lycée Henri IV, the shopping streets Rue Mouffetard and Rue Monge and the charming Place de la Contrescarpe. The district also has popular show venues like the Paradis Latin, the Théâtre de l’Odéon and the Caveau de la Huchette.
