Awake! for Morning's tender light does gleam,

Within the Bowl of Night, a radiant dream.

The Stone is flung, stars scatter far and wide,

As daylight breaks, the celestial tide.

Behold the Hunter of the Eastern skies,

His nimble fingers weave the dawn's surprise.

The Sultan's Turret, ensnared in threads of gold,

A Noose of Light, the tale of morn is told.

The canvas of the heavens, a masterpiece,

Where cosmic wonders never seem to cease.

In dawn's embrace, the world begins to stir,

A symphony of light, a subtle whisper.

The East, a realm where darkness takes its flight,

And morning's magic bathes the world in light.

A dance of shadows, painted on the sky,

As daylight reigns, the Sultan's Turret high.

Oh, let us rise and greet the newborn day,

With open hearts, as dreams in daylight sway.

The Hunter's triumph in the eastern dome,

A celestial spectacle, calling us home.

Architecturally unique, this Jami mosque is distinct in its layout as well as in its materials. It is the first mosque in this region to be constructed according to the principles of Mughal courtyard architecture. Atypical of mosques, this building is elongated along the east-west rather than the usual north-south axis. Red brick is utilized rather than the pink sandstone and marble more commonly associated with Mughal buildings. Quite likely, the decision to use brick was made out of practical concerns of cost and availability, since Thatta does not have much stone. The surfaces are decorated with glazed tiles.

The mosque was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a gesture of gratitude to the people of Thatta for sheltering him during his youth after his father Emperor Jahangir banished him from Delhi. Several Persian inscriptions on site date the foundation of the mosque to 1644 and its completion to 1647. The floor was paved with stone in 1657. Repair work done during the seventies by the Endowment (Awqaf) Department added a garden to the eastern side.

Mosque in Luxor along the Nile. Egypt emerged as one of the world`s first nation states in the tenth millennium BC. Considered a cradle of civilisation, Ancient Egypt saw some of the earliest developments of writing, agriculture, urbanisation, organised religion and central government. Iconic monuments such as the Giza Necropolis and its Great Sphinx, as well the ruins of Memphis, Thebes, Karnak, and the Valley of the Kings, reflect this legacy and remain a significant focus of scientific and popular interest. Egypt`s long and rich cultural heritage is an integral part of its national identity, which has endured, and often assimilated, various foreign influences, including Greek, Persian, Roman, Arab, Ottoman, and European. Egypt was an early and important centre of Christianity, but was largely Islamised in the seventh century and remains a predominantly Muslim country, albeit with a significant Christian minority.

King Abdullah Mosque.

King Abdullah Mosque is located in Amman, Jordan's Capital and largest City.

Pictured here is the largest section of the Mosque and is located in El-Abdali District of Amman.

The Mosque was completed in 1990 as a memorial to the late King Hussein's Gandfather, his Majesty As-Sayyid Abdullah I, King of Jordan.

The Mosque has a capacity of 7000 worshippers inside and a further 3000 in it's courtyard area. I just loved the way this piece of modern Islamic Architecture stood against the brillant blue Jordanian sky.

One thing that particularly made me smile was amongst Amman's many shops there were few which had the trade of selling the metal shaped ornamental pieces which sit upon the minarets very top. Huge shop fronts promoting the many different ornamental pieces which could be purchased, from the very ellobrate and huge to the very minimal and small.
