Happy Beautiful Bug Butt Thursday!

"The smoke that thunders" is the meaning of the original name of the awesome falls, in the Kololo/Lozi language. This is it towards the end of the dry season, and even then the air was full of spray from the cascading water, with a continuous roar as it hit the rocks below.

A scene now long changed, the locomotive is no longer at the museum of science and industry and Granada Tv also long gone

A second picture of the Victoria waterfalls from the Zambian side. Mosi oa Tunya (The smoke that Thunders) is where the Zambezi river plummets over a sheer cliff wall spanning more than 1676m and drops approximately 100m in places down to the gorge below. An awesome sight if you ever get a chance to see it.

"Donnernder Rauch".

An early morning sunrise over the Zambezi river, looking towards the misty clouds rising from the thundering Victoria Falls in the distance.

Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "The smoke that thunders" is the original name for Vic Falls in the Sotho language and indeed quite fitting for this massive and very impressive wonder of nature.

Spotted this afternoon, it was duly dispatched after the photo.

A double rainbow as effect of all the water around. Is quiet common in this amazing place!

The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders, and note that the 'i' is silent) is a waterfall located in southern Africa on the Zambezi River between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls are the largest in the world.
