A Wurdemann's heron is a morph between a great blue heron and a great white heron. It's body is bluish-gray and the head is white. I have lived in Florida all my life and have never seen one. Very rare bird.

Old Car City in White, Georgia is a former store, auto garage, junkyard, which has morphed into a photographer's paradise of 4,000+ old cars. I believe this gentleman is one of the owners and he will occasionally break into a song or two on the piano in the old office/store. By the way....he can REALLY play the tunes.

After a 3-month absence, I’m going to ease back into posting again. I went through a period of being busy and distracted for a while, and that morphed into not quite knowing where to begin again. I was taking photos during the whole absence but was not processing them. My intentions had been to post them in chronological order, but I’ve decided not to do it that way. The last photos I posted were from Door County, Wisconsin and there are still some from there that I want to post. However, I will mix things up chronologically and will finish adding the Door County material later. The subject matter will include a fair amount of nature as it always does, but there will be some photos from travels including museums and other miscellaneous subjects.

Today I’m posting two photos that were taken a few days ago here in Indianapolis very early on a damp, chilly, slightly foggy morning. Indianapolis is short on stunning natural scenery, so it takes imagination and creativity to think of natural landscape scenes that go beyond simply boring. The White River winds its way through the city, but most of the way residential, retail, commercial and industrial uses take away any resemblance to wild nature. That said, only a couple of miles from where I live, College Avenue crosses the White River at a place where there is a thin line of natural tree cover along both sides of the river despite being in the middle of the bustling neighborhood of Broad Ripple. I drive over the College Avenue bridge frequently and have always thought there are photo opportunities from that bridge. So, these two photos are of the same scene taken from the bridge, one a horizontal and the other a vertical.

It snowed yesterday - tiny flurries at first that morphed into huge flakes. I couldn't pass up the chance to get out there and have a little photographic fun. I wanted to try and re-create the image I captured earlier this year (when there was a heck of alot more snow). It's supposed to get into the 40s today, which means most of this beautiful white stuff will be gone. I'm not even sure if there will be a white Christmas this year. And the snow we got yesterday was of the powdery kind (the kind skiers love), so it was too powdery to make a snowman. Nonetheless, it was a good excuse to have a little fun outside and drink some good whiskey from my new flask.

I had been planning a visit to Manyberries for sometime, little break in extended Alberta winter presented an opportunity last weekend. Pakowki Lake in South Eastern Alberta is a great destination for birdwatchers, I met up with my dear friend Jerry Herzig an expert birder and an exceptional photographer, Jerry is an encyclopedia of Southern Alberta Wildlife. I was accompanied by my buddy Boreal impressions, unfortunately there was no activity at LEK but we saw sharp-tail grouse in significant numbers, we also saw few nesting great horned owl pairs and many nesting Ferruginous hawks. I was amazed at the number of birds choosing to nest in this part of the world around Pakowki Lake. Big thanks to Jerry Herzig for his kindness and a very informative guided tour.

It seems that bird photography has morphed from an art form based on captivating one of nature's most delicate yet ubiquitous animal forms, immersed it element, to one that searches to isolate the animal so distinctly as to make it almost unnatural. Frankly, the beauty of most birds is the factor that makes it possible to sequester the animal from the rest of nature's elegance and still create an attractive photo. I find, however, that although I have created both types of photographs, I much prefer to maintain a bit more of the world's ambience than just the bird alone. Are my photographs too busy? For some individuals I imaging that is so. Personally I don't find myself distracted by nature's surroundings in a photo anymore than I do when I am there myself. That doesn't mean that I won't process a photo in a way to drive the eye to the subject, but simply that I prefer not to erase the ambient nature. The Black and White Warbler in this photo is at home on the rough bark and tangled branches of the forest's wood. So much so, that they are rarely, if ever, seen separated. It wouldn't seem proper to isolate this bird from the disarray of branches anymore than it would to separate the clouds from the sky. Like most forms of art, bird photography is more about one's preferences than it is about purity. In short, it's shades of gray rather than black and white. #BlackandWhiteWarbler

but it morphed into this pink marvel. HSS!

part real, part morphed and part drawn.

Started out as a fairly basic upgrade, but morphed into a nearly a new build (with elements of the old seen mostly in the turret). Hull is entirely new (though the track system is reused), and the turret has been shortened and modified mostly in the rear (which, unfortunately) can't be seen.

Released with Evan's new tank.

I promise one day I'll upload all of my "in-the-brick" versions of these digital models... one day.

A cloudy afternoon had morphed into a "meh" evening, so we settled down for dinner. Beth looked up from dinner and said "Go have a look at the mountain!" So I had a peek and promptly ran back in and grabbed my camera, The evening sun had poked through a hole on the western horizon and was lighting up the snow on the top of Mount Cheam and Lady Mountain. The light show lasted less than a minute and then started to fade. But for a glorious minute, the mountains were kissed with rosy light.

This started as a work outfit but kinda morphed in 1950s style leather skirt outfit. Well I think so .....
