Cumin’s a mere 5 years old,
and
This Portuguese Monastery dates from 1538.
Both, are “classically” hip and
vibrantly relevant to life
in Vila Nova de Gaia, PORTUGAL.
even though she’d been moving her head quickly at the time. This little one is sweet as sugar when she wants to be. Morkies, though, are stubborn! She has maximized that trait. Caught her pausing for an instant between peeking in an out beneath a lounge chair.
Amor wanted to pose & say hi! We wish you all the best. I've been away because of work but wanted to let you know I miss you all! I am also playing with my iphone hence the picture, I couldn't resist. haha
Both about 1.25 years of age.
Both Cumin & Maximus are Morkies.
One's smarter (EQ +IQ) , Cuter, + a true Chick-Magnet.
Our little Morkie loves to completely hide herself under blankets and sheets. Just before this shot, only her nose was visible. I wasn’t quick enough to get that shot. Hope you enjoy this one.
That’s happening Monday and it can’t come too soon! Shot at our vet’s office yesterday. Afterlight and Snapseed to the rescue!
Another Pearl portrait by Amanda makes Pearl just shine. I used Afterlight’s tools to create a monochromatic image. A selective saturation tool made all the red in the background fade away, bringing our subject forward. This was done before the shot was desaturated.
The original image was such that she was silhouetted against the background with no detail apparent. One helluva lot of work later in the Afterlight app made it into what you see now.
I figured I would put some pictures of my adorable little girl when she was just a little baby. She felt ignored & we can't have that.
Seems like just yesterday.
Luckily I recorded it all for prosperity . She was our first puppy & she opened our hearts to so much joy.
A couple minutes before I took this shot she had just her nose sticking out of the blanket. Our sweet, stubborn and tiny Morkie has our hearts wrapper around her.
We all drove over to Alabama to celebrate Grinny’s* 92nd Birthday. Both of our doggos came along and enjoyed the ride and the change of scene. I caught Pearly Pearl secured into her safety car carrier and looking at Sugar.

Uhhh, yep! Our little Morkie is looking pretty shaggy these days and is in dire need of a trim. Donna just clipped off some of the growth protruding into her eyes! To a groomer, sooner? We’ll see how she looks in a couple weeks.
The town of Matosinhos Portugal is a Metro ride from Gaia (where we live).
On the train we met a French Guy who now lives as a Digital Nomad taking his kid sister for a Surfing Class, who walked with us towards his Surf Instructors School. I mention this because the number of friendly people from ALL OVER THE 🌎 GLOBE🌏, is such a common experience, for us here- it’s sometimes easy to forget how wonderful that is. Compare/Contrast w/a Crime story I just read today from CWB.com that a man was beaten, robbed (@3:54pm) of his iPhone on a CTA Metro platform we used to ride, & beaten in his head with a hammer😤by a Black Male/Blackfemale captured on CTA Security Camera images.…but-Who does that- to a fellow human being. For a damn iPhone?! I’m so happy that I’ve left Chicago.
In Portugal- I never feel I need to watch over my shoulder like I did-constantly in Chicago.😤
3 Neighborhood Small Dogs-
bein'-Dog-Buddies......
so great to see Cumin
no longer afraid of other Dogs and becoming
much more of a "D.O.G.",
(which please his human (me) greatly!)
Max- the other Morkie pictured is about the same age as CUMIN,
and has always been happy to visit with CUMIN since they discovered each other.
My little Princess is now 3! (Her Birthday was Sunday)
And what does the coolest dog want to do on her birthday.. well it isn’t luxuriating in her new haircut, or how good she smells… no no no… she is all about the treats & playing with a balloon. Actually she is a little obsessed with balloons. It sparks some deep seeded predator in her & she hunts & pounces them. It is all quite funny, & I am sure to take them away from her before she gets a mouthful of helium or any balloon bits. She hates when I stop her fun. But hey it is her birthday & she wants to PARTYYYYY..
(notice her boxing skills, she sure tries to work her paws!)
She also went out with her little bro today, they had a lovely Art in the Park event today & we brought them along. I think she has a pretty awesome day or at least her silly grin seems to indicate so. I love her so much..
PS I recorded this on my canon sd900 & did selective color mode.
Our little Morkie can stare you down like no other canine. Amanda caught her perfectly in this photograph. She used her iPhone 15 to make this shot. I used Afterlight to give it a very small tweak and crop.
Pearl, is a Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier mix. They are also called, “Morkies,” for the uninitiated. Pearl is a year old and weighs almost four pounds. She is also faster than a Kentucky Derby champion!
This photo was taken on June 9th, the day we got Pearl. I didn’t post it earlier as I thought putting more than a few photos up at one time would dilute the effect of each.

Here are our two dogs. They’re ensconced on a blanket on the floor or our living room. Just before this shot, both pups were asleep. Sugar heard me move, just a little bit, to get the shot, and looked up.
Maltese Yorkie puppies are half Maltese and half Yorkshire terrier. They are most commonly referred to as Morkies, though they have also been called Yorkteses.
Our little “Morkie,” Pearl,” took a short nap on my lap this afternoon. With her favorite blanket under her, she slept almost an hour. After that she eyeballed me as you can see here.
Her name is Pearl, alright, and she’s a Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier mix. They are also called, “Morkies,” for the uninitiated. Pearl is a year old and weighs barely three and a half pounds. She is also faster than a Kentucky Derby champion!
This photo was taken on June 9th, the day we got Pearl. I didn’t post it earlier because I hadn’t seen it up close. Rachel couldn’t handle the stare, closed her eyes while laughing heartily.

Edited with an Afterlight filter that I can’t name, even after revisiting all of the myriad filters within this app.
