Occasionally I encounter many feathers scattered in the back forty, clearly once belonging to a bird. Just as often I see a raptor--even an eagle swooping down for a quick snatch and grab.
This one feather seemed to have the only markings—the rest looked mostly white, but I didn't look too closely. I know this is all a part of life...but I don't like this aspect or the broader aspects.

The Magdalenenklause
is a habitable artificial ruin in a secluded part of the forest north of the Boskette near the castle in the Nymphenburg Palace Park in Munich.
It was built from 1725 by Joseph Effner on behalf of Max Emanuel.
The building, which is in the tradition of the Memento mori, is considered to be one of the first architectural ruins in European garden art.
The interiors are designed as grottos.

Back in the day, before Second Life became seized by commercialized fashion, people spent a lot of time creating immersive masterpieces, some destined to become great works of metaverse art in Second Life. Chouchou is one of those great works of art. Created in 2008 by Japanese pianist Arabesque Choche and vocalist Juliet Heberle, who together form the successful musical duet of Chouchou, the surrealistic sim was designed to complement and promote their ambient and dreamy music. Chouchou created a fervor throughout Second Life when it was initially opened. People streamed to the sim in record numbers. Over the years as Second Life evolved from a world of immersive creativity and metaverse design to a world more of commercial fashionism, Chouchou (and other fabulous builds) got lost by the wayside. Many people have never heard of Chouchou. Now, eleven years after it made its debut, it's closing its doors, possibly to be gone forever. There is much to see such as the above Momento Mori, an ethereal cathedral in the sky. I suggest when you visit to take the tour HUD offered to the right of the landing. Please visit before this magnificent build of Second Life yesteryear is gone forever.

I had seen the influx of Chou Chou pictures on my stream the past week or so - when Flickr wasn't being eaten by pandas, that is - but hadn't thought a lot of it. Today I found out that it was closing and that's why. I had sworn I wasn't going to go there again after some personal events back in 2012 *cough cough wedding cough* but I decided it was time I got over that because the sim is just miraculously beautiful and worth it. So I had the joy of showing it to someone who had never been before. We all deserve that moment of wonder when your unbaptised friend climbs up the ladder and sees the glory of Memento Mori for the first time.
It's impossible to take a bad pic there, and I stand by that. Can you believe it's still all old school prims?
So, I made this rather cinematic image.And I hope you enjoy figuring out when and where this happened.How did they end up there , how are they feeling?Why are they there and who are they...If you think of something let me know :)

The pandemic raises the issue of memento mori again and, in particular, of ars moriendi, namely how and where we wish to die.

Took this quite some time ago and had forgotten about it. Glad to see the sim is still there.
Ikue Mori is an extremely revered experimental composer from Japan who creates soundscapes with unexpected textures and noises that tell a sort of story. In her most recent album, Of Ghosts and Goblins, she explores the Kwaidan stories of Lafcadio Hearn through her auditory adventures. Sometimes, we let the inside of our heads and imaginations out into the world and it turns out wondrous and also a little spine tingling. Here are some links to her work:
