Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

@3840x2160, Photo Mode, ReShade, Rotate, Crop

First view on the Geldingadalir volcano when approaching the area on path A in early June 2021. By now, path A has been flooded by lava and this viewpoint isn't reachable anymore. This valley is Geldingadalir which is the name most used for the volcano. The volcanic system it's part of is Fjagradallsfjall which is the other name of it you'll come across.

Large forest areas on the Côte d'Azur are burned. The ride was a bit bizarre. Reminded me of Mordor from Lord of the Rings.

This photo was taken on Theater Hill, the viewpoint closest to the Geldingadalir volcanic cone. At that time, this hill was a peninsula in the lava field accessible via an isthmus enclosed on both sides by the lava. A couple of days later, this isthmus was overflooded by lava and now the hill is only accessible by helicopter.

In J. R. R. Tolkien's world of Middle-earth, Mordor was the region occupied and controlled by Sauron, in the southeast of northwestern Middle-earth to the East of Anduin, the great river.

Orodruin, a volcano in Mordor, was the goal of the Fellowship of the Ring (and later Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee) in the quest to destroy the One Ring.

Mordor has three enormous mountain ranges surrounding it, from the north, from the west and from the south. The mountains both protected the land from an unexpected invasion by any of the people living in those directions and kept those living in Mordor from escaping.

Passionate reader of "The Lord of the Rings" I always thought that the Dolomite panoramas might well be a natural setting for Peter Jackson's film.

This is a series of shots depicting the Three Peaks, Mount Paterno and the Plateau Lakes, heavily elaborated with photoshop to bring back to Mordor's mind and the Barad-dúr tower.

Finally, I wanted to reassure Locatelli's managers and customers...

Even though my picture is not visible

The refuge is still in its place ...

The Dinorwic Slate Quarry is a large former slate quarry, now home to the Welsh National Slate Museum, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in north Wales. It was the second largest slate quarry in Wales, indeed in the world, after the neighbouring Penrhyn Quarry.[1] It covered more than 700 acres (2.8 km2) consisting of two main quarry sections with 20 galleries in each and a number of ancillary workings. Extensive internal tramway systems connected the quarries using inclines to transport slate between galleries

Tolkien erinnerte.

First time in the Italian Dolomites, and I’m sure that it’s not going to be the last. I’ve never seen such mountains before. Sceneries, lights, atmospheres that makes you feel like a hobbit is about to jump out of a bush.

Weather can be tricky in this area especially when you’re camping in the mountains but according to me, it’s totally worth it. Hike, climb, shoot, but also take time to appreciate the place, because it’s magical (even – or especially, your choice ! – when you’re stuck in a thunderstorm with a lama as your neighbor)

“Going to the mountains is going home; wildness is a necessity; and mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life” Yes John, You’re god’dam’ right my friend.

This picture had been shot at sunset in the Passo di Sella near Val Gardena. One of the most picturesque campsite I’ve ever had.

Feel free to leave a comment or like the picture ! It's always welcome :! :)
