that dome has been my house and friends house at many many parties and places...it was built by a friend for burningman...
I'm trying to find out the name of this lovely black beetle. It moved much more quickly than those slow and gawky beetles that I'm used to seeing. Also, the shape of the body is very different. The outer shell was oriented vertically, like the hull of a boat upside-down!
This was taken after most of the wildflowers were gone in the Mojave. More specifically on the 15 freeway near Nevada.
We were at this exact place one month before this picture was taken and there were very few insects running around but tons of beautiful plants and flowers. This time, the flowers were almost completely gone, but there were more strange insects than I have ever seen outside of a tropical environment. The place was literally jumping with grasshoppers, too.
