The weather on this particular day was really poor, having just visited Crail the rain had started and there was quite a swell getting up in the sea so it was time to move on toward St Andrews, it was obvious that a huge storm was coming in off the sea from the East, as the rain at this stage was very slight I decided to use the old Church at Boarhills as a backdrop to the storm coming in behind it as there was still some really good light before the clouds were fully overhead. less than 5 minutes later this shot was impossible as all the light vanished, the rain was that heavy it was very difficult to see to drive in! and it didn't stop for about 4 hours. A lucky break this time!

Boarhills church is located in Fife, just outside St Andrews, the lonely stone building was built in 1867,

Probably my favourite drone shot. DJI AIR2s, moody conditions made this perfect.

The rock formation is both a tourist attraction and nesting place for sea birds including herring gulls, great black-backed gulls and lesser black-backed gulls.

North Ronaldsay, most Northerly of all the Orkney islands, population of approx just 60 people now, and not an easy Island to do, plane if the weather is ok, or a once a week ferry service that runs if the weather is ok, Certainly not for the feint hearted traveller... saying that, this was my second visit to the island, and all went well. I was really lucky with this shot as I'd been indoors for a while waiting to head down to the shore to shoot sunset, peered out of the window and saw this ginormous black storm cloud, one of the biggest I'd ever seen in Scotland, blowing in from out to sea, quick dash and get set up, as it was moving could see sort of what was going to happen, I just hoped it lasted long enough, and went high enough to frame the house in the golden light under all the black... as you can see, it did just that, managed a few decent shots of it but this was my pick of the bunch, a big thanks to whoever built that house right there to make the shot! Really happy with this one. A really stunning gem of a place, more sunset shots to follow, great to get a decent keeper for a reminder of a very special evening there.

As always I've marked the location to the map if anyone is interested.

November 2022, The sun just clipping the peak of Buachaille Etive Mor early morning.

In the still waters of a remote Scottish loch, a half-sunken shipwreck leans silently, its rusted hull breaking the surface like a ghost from the past. Weathered by time and tide, it stands as a haunting reminder of forgotten journeys and the wild, unforgiving beauty of the Highlands.

This image is somewhat of a bonus for me as the visit here was a total washout, literally, I've posted another image from here a few days later earlier on my stream as I thought it was the only one I had managed to get, the weather was dry but the tide was out... This image is pretty much what I was after originally, this day it absolutely poured down and I ended up waiting in the rain with the camera covered with a waterproof backpack cover, just hoping for a break in the rain, getting soaked in the process... when I had checked my files I hadn't managed to get anything not ruined by the rain, such is life...

Oddly though when checking the images from that trip day a few files had somehow been mixed up and put right to the end of the folder out of sequence, this being one of them, not a clue why or how but I was made up to find this long exposure image with no rain spots and a lot of nice dark cloud movement during the bad weather, a bit of a phoenix from the ashes....

This is the remains of Hawkcraig Pier, Aberdour, Fife, looking out towards Inchcolm Island and behind that the Lothian coastine towards Edinburgh, after such a frustrating day weather wise I'm made up to have actually got something from it, even more so as I didn't think I had originally.

Coming back from a walk along the coast got caught in a heavy rain shower, such is the way of things up here, sunny one minute, torrential rain the next.... I'd seen about 8 decent rainbows this day but annoyingly I wasn't in a position to get any shots, the only way to get this was to stand dry the lens off in the doorway of the hotel shooting out - it's still pouring down in this image, you can see if you look at the clouds, it couldn't have been in a better spot, allowing both ends to be in the frame, the only time I've ever managed to get this, and the closest I've been to one happening as I can remember, the end can be clearly seen hitting the rocks on the shoreline on the right hand side. There's a actually a second one above it too it you look closely. The grain in the shot is rain, it was pouring down when this was taken..

Taken inbetween sunbursts and heavy rain showers on the stunning Island of North Uist, at Lochmaddy. A real pleasure to be back here again, looking for different things to shoot, and this was pretty much an afterthought returning to the hotel, seeing the light plus contrasty rainclouds reflected in the water I couldn't resist this with the church lit up, lasted all of about a minute at most, we had seen about 15 rainbows and amazing cloud formations I wanted to shoot on the way up from Tarbert but couldn't stop so was really happy to grab something showing the unusual nature of the weather system here, never seen anywhere else in Scotland quite like it for unusual weather and odd cloud formations that take on shapes of their own minute by minute, a very special place.

Shot at Linlithgow Palace, Scotland, this was once a

magnificent palace, built and lived

in by successive Stewart kings and

where Mary Queen of Scots was

born. Though in ruins now, it is still

a very impressive site.

The great hall was a magnificent room where banquets, plays and lavish

entertainment took place. Guests would sit at benches at long tables ranged up

and down the hall.

I'm hoping to back here soon to do a lot more shooting both inside at outside, most definitely worth a visit.

Following on with the 'Skye theme', a freezing cold day and one where visibilty was changing every few minutes (and sometimes less) with features in the landscap simply dissapearing behind mist and low cloud.

We had been up the Quirang on this morning and had similar conditions there but the temptation to stop here is always too much especially with so much drama around.

I decided to use the drone here despite it saying it was a abit too windy I thought it was worth it if I could just get something different from here I'd never shot before and capture some of the ongoing dramatic weather which Skye seems to attract so well.

I settled on this compostion looking out to Raasay and without an enormous pair of ladders it would be unachievable without the use of the aircraft. The summit of Dun Caan can be seen on Raasay at the very rear of the image on the left.

A pair of abandoned old trawlers, Just North of Salen on the North of the Isle of Mull, shot in a morning with a nice overcast sky allowing another longer shutter, I'd passed these boats a good few times on the bus and always wanted to shoot them, having the car this time allowed for stopping anywhere, which inevitably I did. Two great old boats, I met a guy here who said he had been climbing inbetween them the previous day, somehow I didn't quite fancy that!

View Large On Black Here Taken on a recent visit to Islay, Inveraray is a gorgeous small Lochside town on the banks of Loch Fyne, had about 20 minutes here and managed to grab this shot looking out onto the Loch before the rains started again. Every other time I've been here there has just been a dull white sky so something of a result today.
