This Monitor Lizard positioned himself at the base of a weir, using his body to 'net' small fish as they came over the barrier.
The dried up section of this wetlands is nearly covered with reeds. This is a week after we had 6mm of rain and 40degC temperatures. The reeds are starting to yellow. Taken at the wetlands on Murray Mouth Road Hindmarsh Island South Australia - 11th Jan 2007

TO VIEW sit back from your monitor 2 feet and place your index finger about 10 inches in front of your eyes and focus on your finger. This will cause your eyes to go comfortably cross eyed. Keep that same cross eyed focus and notice there are now 3 photos in the back ground. Do not let your eyes leave the cross eye as you look at the middle picture which has appeared. Now increase or decrease how much your eyes are cross eyed until the image pops into 3D. Your eyes will want to leave the cross eye, but fight that urge. This is an acquired skill and takes practice. Stop if it's uncomfortable.

A realidade nas escolas públicas de Ceilândia já foi bem diferente. A região administrativa é uma das que utilizam um sistema de monitoramento de segurança para melhorar a situação nas unidades de ensino e conseguir diminuir o número de ocorrências.
Em Ceilândia, por exemplo, aliado a cuidados como podas de árvores e roçagem, sistema contribuiu para reduzir registros de crimes.

this was not really far from a residential neighborhood! It was at least 160cm long.
There is very little of the original Singapore Mangrove forests left. I went to explore a board walk trail at the Pasir Ris Park and spotted these Monitor Lizards. All together 3 of them in S,M and L size. The large one sitting on the thick branch was pointed out to me by some high school girls.
It is quite something to see them while not confined in a zoo!
