I've had a frustrating week, complicated, and now I'm tired.
I've spent 4 days in eureka, the city north of us, with errands.
we had no internet connection on wednes.
I signed up with a new cellphone server and got a new iPhone [which I now have to learn]. in the deal came a small mini iPad [which leon has to learn]
I got my Direct TV remote replaced [mine doesn't work] for a small cost. sigh.
but they helped me reduce my bill a bit.
I'm fighting with moneygram to let me do online deposits again. I screwed up and my credit union screwed up, and now I have to go to the money store with cash. I don't like carrying cash, but jon in thailand needs the money for the dogs' food and meds. I'm waiting for moneygram to call back.

this little orchid was trying to bloom, but it looks like it's rotting. I unpotted it to see what's happening with the roots. and I realized that solutions for everything, my piddly problems in a great life, and the world problems, all depend on getting to the roots of the matter[s].
Our Craigslist "Nigerian Dictator" scammer sent me his counterfeit check -- a whopping $2950 for a $200 loveseat.
The essence of this scam is that the scammer's check is a counterfeit. The scam is based on the assumption that I will cash the $2950 check, then refund the $2750 difference to the scammer via Moneygram *before* my bank identifies his check as a fake. In a few weeks, the bank would deduct the $2950 from my account balance after the check was deemed invalid, but the $2750 I sent to the scammer via the Moneygram would be gone forever.
Based on what I've read, the check is probably drawn from a real account, but the piece of paper itself is a fake. For that reason, I've blurred the account numbers in the image.

Jon has been saving dogs in the thai jungle for almost 7 years. How he got there is not important as he has been a dog person all of his life.
Like so many places Thailand has a problem with its abandoned dogs. Jon says the terms "colossal, huge, substantial, gigantic, and enormous" all fall short of describing the issues. The dogs, when they are no longer wanted are then dumped at a temple or in the jungle. Or left on a road to be killed by passing cars.
Jon and his wife are caring for 8 dogs at one temple at the moment, down from 12, and 6 at another temple are also given care. The numbers change. Of the 12, one was shot and murdered, one was poisoned and another died from infection after a monkey attack. Jon and wife just didn't have the funds to save them. The details of their deaths best be left unsaid because of the horror involved with them.
They also live with 3 rescued dogs at their home who thriving because of excellent care.
Proper care for their medical needs is needed to start.
Heart-worm, intestinal parasites, mange, just to name a few, are agonizing and painful ways to live and a short life it is because they die a slow agonizing death.
At this moment Jon needs some kind of transportation to get the dogs in dire need back and forth from the temples to the vet's. A cycle and side car would be perfect. $2500-$3000 is the cost of a cycle and sidecar so Jon can do this right.
We have a donor that will match funds up to $1500 "only" if we can get this amount of money donated to us by Oct 31st. Otherwise, the extra $1500 is off the table and what monies are collected will go to Jon for his regular needs.

Aircraft was built in 1992 and carried the test reg. N99GA. It was used by Gulfstream Aerospace up until 2005 and was the bought by VIAD Corp, keeping the same I.D, who took delivery on 26-1-2005.
Later in service with MoneyGram Inc. who took delivery on 11-1-2006.
Air Lease Corp. took delivery of the aircraft as N68AL on 27-7-2010.

Highlights for later collages. The Red Hydrant has a Money Gram, with battery at the strange place. Longtime Detroiters will recognize this building as a former Cunningham's drug store. The giveaway--the bright green color. Cunningham's was once the leading local drugstore chain, but it has been supplanted by national retailers and is now out of business.
According to curbeddetroit.com, this building is a 1938 Charles N. Agree design. The site calls it one of Agree's "five most disrespected buildings."
