After years of wanting to visit the mills at night in the first week of september (because of the lights) last night it finally came to that. No nightshift,no wind or rain. But it was crowded with people, all in the same spot wanting to get the best photo possible. People from all over Europe who sort of camped out on the spot of their desire. There was not a lot of space to get in between them but then again I didn't bother. My camera has its limits and its was the atmosphere I was most curious about. I am sure there are more "picture perfect" photo's then mine but I am sharing anyway.

1x in het jaar (september) zijn de molens aan De Kinderdijk belicht.
Op deze foto is dit nog niet zo goed zichtbaar, maar de lucht was al wel mooi gekleurd.
The "De Onrust" windmill was built in 1809 to drain the Naardermeer. The 15-meter high mill controls the water level of this nearly 700-hectare swamp area, without the support of another pumping station.
The scoop wheel moves approximately 10 m³ of water per revolution. For this the wick cross turns twice. To achieve a level reduction of 1 cm, one day (approximately 16 hours) with good wind is needed.
The Loenderveense Molen is a polder mill near Loenen aan de Vecht in Utrecht.
The mill was built in 1652 because natural discharge of the polder water on the nearby Vecht was no longer possible

Goevrouwetoren
Haarlem, windmill: molen de Adriaan
The windmill was built on the foundations of the Goevrouwetoren by Adriaan de Booys, an industrial producer from Amsterdam. The Goevrouwetoren, or Goede Vrouwtoren (Goodwife Tower), had been the northern support of the city's Catrijnenpoort, a defencework over the River Spaarne. By the late 18th century, the gate was redundant due to the expansion of the city, and de Booys bought the tower and the land around it from the municipality of Haarlem on April 24, 1778. By reinforcing the foundations with wooden supporting poles, the mill was built to 34 metres above the level of the river, and above the surrounding city. De Adriaan was officially opened on May 19, 1779.
