The Mohabbat Khan Mosque is a 17th century Mosque in Peshawar city, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan. It is named after the Mughal governor of Peshawar Nawab Mohabbat Khan who served under Emperors Shah Jehan and Aurangzeb and who was the grandson of Nawab Dadan Khan (who had been governor of Lahore).
The Mosque was built in 1670s, and is orthodox in design. Its open courtyard has an ablution pond in the middle and a single row of rooms around the sides. The prayer hall occupies the west side flanked by two tall minarets. According to the turn-of-the-century Gazetteer for the NWFP, the minarets were frequently used in Sikh times ‘as a substitute for the gallows’. A fire that raged through the Andar Sheher Bazaar in 1895 failed to destroy the mosque because of the unremitting efforts of the faithful.
The interior of the prayer hall is sheltered beneath three low fluted domes and is lavishly and colourfully painted with floral and geometric designs.

The Mohabbat Khan Mosque is a 17th century Mosque in Peshawar city, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan. It is named after the Mughal governor of Peshawar Nawab Mohabbat Khan who served under Emperors Shah Jehan and Aurangzeb and who was the grandson of Nawab Dadan Khan (who had been governor of Lahore).
The Mosque was built in 1670s, and is orthodox in design. Its open courtyard has an ablution pond in the middle and a single row of rooms around the sides. The prayer hall occupies the west side flanked by two tall minarets. According to the turn-of-the-century Gazetteer for the NWFP, the minarets were frequently used in Sikh times ‘as a substitute for the gallows’. A fire that raged through the Andar Sheher Bazaar in 1895 failed to destroy the mosque because of the unremitting efforts of the faithful.
The interior of the prayer hall is sheltered beneath three low fluted domes and is lavishly and colourfully painted with floral and geometric designs.
More than 100,000 soldiers and rescuers, including those from Russia, Japan, Singapore and the Republic of Korea, are still battling to search for buried survivors in the quake zones.

Chowk Yadgar or “The Square of Remembrance” is a famous landmark of Peshawar. Its location at the heart of the old walled city of Peshawar makes it a must see for every traveler. It is located at the convergence point of different major roads and bazaars of the old city.
The first “Dome Shaped” monument at this square was originally erected in the memory of Colonel C. Hastings in 1892 AD by his friends. Ever since then this place has witnessed agitation stemming from religious, political and international issues in the country and this place has a status equivalent to Hyde Park of London. So much so that several anti-British rallies started from this point towards the end of British Colonial Rule in the early 20th century. However, in 1969 the square was dedicated to the heroes of India-Pakistan War of 1965 and the old monument was demolished and approximately a 100 feet tall concrete arch was constructed. With the passage of time that “Modern White Marble Arch” became a symbol of Peshawar. But unfortunately this monument was also demolished and replaced in the early nineties with another “Dome Shaped” structure which currently stands atop an underground road connection.
To the West of Chowk Yadgar is the end of “Ander Shehr Street” (meaning “inside of the city”) or “Jewelers street”. The Jewelers Street starts from the “Naz Cinema Road” (right in front of Forward High School) and culminates at Chowk Yadgar. The entrance to the famous Mohabbat Khan Mosque is located in the middle of this narrow street. To the East of Chowk Yadgar is the Cunningham clock tower or (Ghanta Ghar) which was built in 1900 in commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen Empress, but was later named after Sir George Cunningham a British Civil Servant, who came along somewhat later. The main street from “Peepal Mandi leads towards Chowk Yadgar after passing through the Bird Market; where song birds are sold as pets in small cages. To the left are a cluster of cloth shops which are engaged in selling all types of multi-purpose sheets. On the West Side of Chowk Yadgar, one can spot money changers sitting on hand-knotted Afghani carpets with their safes behind them and their pocket calculators in their hands. These money changers will change any currency (illegally), but will accept only large notes. The road on the South side eventually leads to the famous Qissa Khawani Bazaar.
The houses around Chowk Yadgar are built mostly of unbaked bricks set in wooden frames so as to guard against earthquakes. Many of these old houses have beautifully carved heavy wooden doors and almost all have highly ornamental wooden balconies. An onlooker can still witness some of these balconies while standing at the centre of Chowk Yadgar.

Begum Akthar was orignally named as Akhtari Bai Faizabadi born on October 7 1914 was one of the well known Ghazal Indian singer. She was awarded with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by Government of India. She was also titled as Mallika e Ghazal (Queen of Ghazal).

What: This is a heart made of red light. It is an example of light painting.
When: The picture was taken on September 20, 2010.
Why: This picture was taken because i just really needed to make a red heart out of light and photograph it. I just had to. :-)
Where: This picture was taken inside my home in the drawing room which is usually the darkest place in my house at night.
How: This is how I did it:
1. Took a little torch and taped red polythene from a shopping bag on it (I folded the polythene three times before taping it on.)
2. Turned off the lights of the room.
3. There was a door behind me so I blocked all light coming from underneath it.
4. I set my camera mode to "Manual".
5. Set the shutter speed to 30 sec and aperture to F8.0.
6. Positioned my camera on a table.
7. Turned on my torch that was giving out reddish light due to the red polythene.
8. Turned on the 10 sec auto timer and hit the shutter button.
9. Ran to take my position in front of the camera.
10. As soon as the camera clicked, I started making this heart shape in the air.
Note: I succeeded in getting this after a couple of failed attempts. So trying again and again paid off. *giggles*

Thanks to Hari Mahidhar Sir and Shabirali Patel bhai for all the inspiration .. was lucky to test shoot many photographs at ISO between 5000 to 8000 in pitch dark Versova beach by Sony A7s yesterday for "Mohabbat Urdu hai by amazing Director and fabulous Poet Vivek Sharma.
Have been associated with this lovely human being who happens who be a producer, an amazing director but a great poet as well Vivek Sharma who is coming out with a book on lovely shers and shayris which he has penned down in a book "Mohabbat Urdu hai".
I have been lucky enough to shoot some visuals which will be published along side his beautiful words in the book.
I am not allowed to release any of the visuals but could not resist to release this portrait of beautiful Priyanka Bhattacharya who is a part of the series of .pictures which i shot. She is profession Singer and Actor.
The portrait was shot in pitch dark Versova beach yesterday on a ISO of 8000.
Apart from the other feature of the camera I m astounded by the results and the high ISO and Low grain functioning of it.
