KITE Module
KITE derives its name from Kiloelectron volt Ion Temperature Experiment. It was used to determine the temperature produced by the nuclear test device at particular points. The KITE module is an evacuated chamber that forms part of the line of sight. Several KITES were used in each nuclear test, positioned at different points in the rack. The KITE signals were transmitted uphole on thick coaxial cables and recorded either in U.S. or U.K. trailers.

NIMO Teams are often mobilized to manage remote fires with complex logistics. The Chilliwack Complex of fires are located in remote wilderness areas along the U.S.-Canadian Border in the northwest corner of North Cascades National Parks Complex in Washington state.
Fifteen Wildland Module firefighters were inserted into the remote Hozomeen area at the north end of Ross Lake to conduct structure protection assessments on cabins and other structures. The voyage to get them to their insertion point involved; a drive to a boat launch, a ferry a cross a lake to another boat dock, a truck ride up a steep hill to a second dam, and a nearly 3 hour boat transport to a remote wilderness camp.

Turns the trusty workhorse "283 into a useful strobist tool. The only downside is that since its just a potentiometer, there are no positive clicks for each setting, so you don't really know if that power level is what you're getting. But its pretty close. It also allows adjustment down to 1/64th power, better than the current 285 HV. "

Here are my modular sculptures, I think they aren't as exciting as some of the other people's modules. Howevver, they aren't bad, and I got a very good grade for my efforts.

The City Space theme continues to inspire. I wanted to use the curved quarter panels as a windscreen, and by excellent luck had the matching curve plate in sand blue. From then on it was just a matter of mixing the design cues and colour scheme from the sets with my build.
Rather pleased with this, looks chunky and industrial near-future. The crane, while functional, can't lift the module without ripping itself apart. Oh well.
Probably won't take any more pictures of the module itself either, it's just an empty shell that seems to be more like a double-decker carriage on a scenic train than a science module. Some more work on that will be required, I think. But that's a problem for another time. I already have an idea for a larger build that will incorporate four of these modules.
