Not long ago, the University of Saskatchewan installed a new sign outside of the renovated Place Riel Student Centre. Today, I saw people modifying the sign.

Lettera alla città .
Sabato 5 maggio è successa una cosa straordinaria.
I cittadini e i lavoratori dell’arte, dello spettacolo e della
conoscenza di Milano hanno aperto le porte a Macao, il nuovo centro per le arti della città .
Uno spazio desiderato da tante persone che, nel giro di qualche ora, hanno aderito attivamente e con entusiasmo alla costituzione di un nuovo territorio di linguaggi e di riflessione politica.
Nonostante la sua estensione, a Macao gli spazi sono gremiti dalla mattina alla sera da centinaia di cittadini che lavorano, si incontrano e si auto organizzano per formulare insieme ipotesi progettuali e riflessioni teoriche che possano dare lunga vita a questa torre.
Possiamo senz’altro dire che Macao abbia colto una necessità diffusa che serpeggiava in città , individuando interessi e bisogni non soddisfatti dagli spazi e le istituzioni culturali preesistenti.
Detto questo pensiamo che occorra tutelare questo processo da possibili minacce di sgombero.
L’assemblea di lavoratori di Macao intuisce nei gesti che ha compiuto un profonda legittimità da rispettare e da proteggere.
La questione di restituire questo luogo alla città va ben oltre gli aspetti proprietari e sappiamo che ci sono tante strade percorribili.
Il Comune di Milano ha pieni poteri per poter proteggere il nostro percorso come abbiamo riscontrato confrontandoci con grandi esperti di diritto e costituzionalisti.
Pensiamo che il Comune di questa città non debba rendere esecutivo lo sgombero bensì si debba mettere in ascolto di questa esperienza inedita, cogliendone le potenzialità , anche prendendosi un tempo per capire e formulare un nuovo vocabolario istituzionale e giuridico.
Questa è la vera partecipazione cui l’amministrazione deve mettersi al servizio, la nostra trasversalità e il numero strepitoso di soggetti competenti che stanno cooperando qui dentro, è un dato di fatto da cui non si può prescindere.
Crediamo che Milano farebbe così.
Questa sera ore 18 assemblea cittadina.
