In the same manner that gold and diamonds are highly treasured in the West, the Chinese regard jade stone with a special significance.
The importance of Jade stone in Chinese culture is reflected in its status as a symbol of goodness, preciousness and beauty. To the Chinese, jade stone is also the embodiment of the Confucian virtues of courage, wisdom, modesty, justice and compassion. The polish and brilliance of jade stone is considered by the Chinese to be representative of purity while its compactness and hardness reflect intelligence. Justice is represented by its angles and the sound produced by it when it is struck is a symbol of music.
There is a Chinese saying that goes, "Gold has a value; jade is invaluable".

This is the modesty screen* in front of the closed Gents toilet at Tyseley station. A class 168 speeds past with 1H56 the 15.12 Birmingham Snow Hill to Marylebone.
*The GWR modesty screens are planked wooden panels supported by cast iron upright pillars, the uprights are the same castings as the supports for station running in boards, even to the neat cap on the top. Not a lot of people know that...or even care.

May cause disillusionment with modernity, unhelpful attitudes, reactionary hallucinations, subversive thoughts, scepticism, "crank" beliefs and lack of deference to authority.

Putting a towel loosely over the escape valve collects the steam and prevents the kitchen becoming damp. Wring the wet towel into the sink. Job done.
