a white horse, still as sculpture.

a puddle becomes a second sky.

above: a bird escapes the frame.

below: its silent mirror.

sometimes the reflection carries more tension than the real.

sometimes the quietest frame holds the most movement.

the driver points.

the horse moves.

the sun cuts through the moment like a line drawn on stone.

this isn’t nostalgia.

it’s present tense – with shadows stretched and time paused.

The interplay of old and new is captured as Gothic church spires reflect against a modern glass facade. This image explores the contrast between historical architecture and contemporary design, evoking a sense of timelessness.

shot at night in palma. a face carved in chiaroscuro, lips sealed, eyes open. the coat speaks of distance, the light of drama. no story, just presence.

a woman steps along the fine line between light and shadow, caught in the geometry of palma’s old town. the wall speaks quietly in stone and font, its message half-covered by the angled cloak of the sun. “antigua palma” stands not just for place, but for time – split here by this transient presence, passing but not insignificant. light cuts across the façade like a memory dividing past and present. in this slice of shadow, everything feels temporary – even permanence.

Thanks very much for viewing.

beneath a window of shadowed circles and hidden text, a woman cuts through the grid of light with elegance and solitude. her steps echo on the mosaic floor, framed by geometry, swallowed by silence. this is the rhythm of a city seen in high contrast and quiet grace.

he leans into the silence, lifting his glasses with the knowing glance of someone who has read a thousand stories between people—not on pages, but in eyes and pauses.

light splits the arcade like a verdict. she walks through it, unaware of how perfectly she fits into the geometry of this warm, indifferent morning. everything is theatre here, even the shadows know their cue.

If you've ever seen the 1989 classic Field of Dreams, you've seen this corner and parts of north and south Main St. before. Galena, which is identified as Chisholm, Minnesota in the movie, is where Ray Kinsella, played by Kevin Costner, and Terrence Mann, played by James Earl Jones, go to look for "Doc" Moonlight Graham, played by Burt Lancaster.

Upon arriving in Chisholm, Ray and Terrence visit the local newspaper office and learn that Doc Graham died in 1972. Later that evening, a confused Ray goes for a walk on this street and discovers that he has somehow been transported back to the year 1972. He then sees an older man with an umbrella walking toward the corner shown in this photo. Ray catches up and calls out "Doctor Graham," who turns around. Ray asks "Doc" if he is "Moonlight" Graham. Graham responds that no one has called him "Moonlight" in fifty years. Ray then asks if he can join him on his walk to talk about what happened when Moonlight got to the majors and played only one inning of one game.

Ostensibly about baseball, the emotional, magical Field of Dreams became more than just a movie for many people following its release in 1989 to both critical and popular acclaim. Based on W. P. Kinsella's book Shoeless Joe, Field of Dreams is a story of faith, forgiveness, and redemption. I highly recommend both the movie and soundtrack by the late James Horner.

Back to the image. This photo provides a view of the west side of the 100 block of S. Main St. in downtown Galena. On the corner is the Newhall Building (where the scene just described takes place), a two-part commercial block in Greek Revival style that was constructed in 1843. Nearly every building in this view is a contributing property in the Galena Historic District, which encompasses a remarkable 85 percent of the City of Galena and includes more than 800 properties. The Galena Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, with modifications in 2013.

Galena is the seat of Jo Daviess County. This is the un-glaciated area of northwestern Illinois. The rolling hills, history and abundant 19th century architecture draws visitors from throughout the country. The estimated population of Galena in 2019 was 3,158.

a single stride casts a longer echo—childlike, unguarded, and full of motion. caught in the stark midday light, this silhouette becomes more than a shadow. it becomes a trace of joy, of growth, of everything that passes but never really leaves.

the city folds in on itself. a woman walks through gold, framed by shadow and stone. a man passes in orange, half in this world, half in thought. in the glass, silhouettes drift like memory. the moment holds.

King Louie XV's vacation place.... Ok...yeah, cause his regular abode just wasn't big enough.. or maybe this was a smaller place to get away from it all...

but it was built to accommodate 5000 visiting dignitaries in addition the the royal family...one has to wonder how many servants roamed those massive halls.

i was walking the sun-split streets of palma at noon, when this man appeared—caught between light and void, his hands folded behind his back like a question without an answer. with the harsh mediterranean sun flattening most things, it was the shadow that revealed the depth.

a moment sliced by symmetry, where man and dog are caught in a mirrored ballet of control. reflections bend reality until you're not quite sure which leash is real and which is just a trace of light.

a moment suspended in silence – eyes wandering beyond the frame, thoughts adrift, lit by the softest shadow. it’s the kind of quiet you only hear in black and white.

Skopje is the capital of North Macedonia, located along the river Vardar. The city was almost completely destroyed by a major earthquake in 1963, and because of that, the centre was later rebuilt in different styles. In the last fifteen years an enormous construction wave was added: the Skopje 2014 project. This is a detail of one of the striking lamp posts on the Freedom Bridge in Skopje. Here, the lamps are not simply functional – they are almost sculptures in their own right. This post is carried by a group of winged figures, symbolic protectors or “guardians” watching over the river. This kind of exuberant, theatrical design is typical for the Skopje 2014 urban renewal: even street furniture was created as monumental art. The Freedom Bridge connects neighbourhoods across the Vardar and is one of the most decorated bridges in the centre. These angel-like sculptural lamp posts create a near-mythical atmosphere, and show how Skopje deliberately chose dramatic iconography to build a new visual identity.

A close-up of one of the ornate lamp posts on Skopje’s Freedom Bridge. Instead of a simple light, it’s a sculptural column with winged figures acting as guardians over the river — a perfect example of how the city turned even street lighting into theatrical monumentality during the Skopje 2014 era.

Not often can a car leave you speechless in the flesh from its sheer presence and beauty. Old Porsches do that for me :)

not loud—bright. not wild—together. a fire in each hand, a voice in each face.

the night before the exams is not just a rite. it is release, resistance, ritual.

the wall doesn’t answer, but it holds the sound. and above it all, rome listens in silence.

The 8 series was designed by Klaus Kapitza and launched as a Grand Tourer in 1989 at the Frankfurt Motorshow, powered by either an V8 or V12 5.0 litre engine. Launched as entirely new class of BMW it was BMW's flagship car and had an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Over 1.5 billion Deutschemark was spent on total development (2008 USD nearly $1 billion). BMW used CAD tools, still unusual at the time, to design the car's all-new body. Combined with wind tunnel testing, the resulting car had a drag coefficient of 0.29,

Originally launched as a V8 840 Series 4 litre or a 5 litre V12 850 The 850i was the first model of the 8 Series launched in 1990 with the 5.0-litre M70B50 V12 engine having a power output of 300hp and available either with a 4-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 850i metamorphosed into the 850Ci in around Autumn 1993 The confusion started when BMW installed the new M73B54 V12 engine in the car from October 1994, the new engine being from the newly launched E38 750i. This was not an immediate changeover, and both the M70 and M73-engined cars rolled off the production lines, both named 850Ci with those built before 10/94 using the older E32 type 5.0 M70. As the displacement of the M73 increased to 5.4-litres the compression ratio increased to produce an output of 322hp. A top range variant the 850CSi was added to the range sharing the same engine which included Bosch Motronic 1.7 fuel injection, and an increased state of tune producing 375hp, this model had modified suspension and reduced ride height, The front and rear bumpers were reshaped for improved aerodynamic performance. Four round stainless steel exhaust tips replaced the square tips found on other models, upgraded brakes rear differential and engine oil coolers, upgraded interior and reshaped mirrors. Production was ended in 1996 because the S70 engine could not be modified to comply with new emission regulation, making Greta very slightly less miserable. This cosmetic package was offered in the 850Ci Sport

I always thought these looked dated, even when they were relatively new, however recently I have really started to admire them. This fantastic looking example was at a recent Cars & Coffee meet at The Motorist.
