Just outside Roppongi Hills' Mori Tower. This 54 storey high skyscraper is probably the most famous building in Roppongi - finished in 2003. It is now the home to shops, offices, an art museum and restaurants.

The architectural complex known as the Popular Square in the center of Niterói, concentrates three buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer. They are home to the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation, the Roberto Silveira Memorial and the Popular Theater of Niterói.

Belguim, Brussels

In …. we had a few days in Brussels and enjoyed every minute of it. The accommodation, the food and especially the people were excellent. These images I thought I had lost forever when my old desk-top crashed but I found books of negatives in my loft. I bought a little machine that converted negatives into jpegs. They are not the best in the world but after some editing I was eventually pleased with the results. Brussels was breath-taking, the sharp contrast between new and old architecture was quite amazing and seemingly fitted well together.

The County of Essex – Scenes of Essex

I am an Essex lad. It is a county that possesses a City, a number of Large and Small Towns, New Towns, Villages, Hamlets and Ports. It has anything from Modern Architecture to Roman History and pre Roman ruins. There are Museums, Galleries, an RHS Garden and is open to the National Open Gardens Scheme. It even boasts a Secret Nuclear Bunker, although everyone knows where it is.

It is a place of Parks and open spaces open to the public, all those areas that were closed off due to Covid are now open to the public. We can still enjoy the many footpaths that run everywhere from Coast to Countryside. There are a large number of wonderful churches, of timbered houses, windmills, pub signs, post boxes, blue plaques and sculpture just put there for the photographer and lastly, much, much more.

Here is a collection of items that start off with Heybridge on the coast, a delightful place to visit for two or three hours walking around the seawall or just sitting alongside the canal having a pint or a cuppa watching the boats go past and there are quite a few of them in at the right time.

My impression of the Heybrige Boat Club's clubhouse.

A standout of the London skyline is the Shard, a 95 storey building that as the name suggest looks like a ‘shard of glass’. This structure is so imposing that I was able to capture the top of it as we travelled east on the Thames River into the wharf district. Ironically Metropolitan Wharf is on the north bank of the Thames and the Shard is on the south bank. I had to look at a map to put this into perspective for myself. I love the contrast between these old industrial buildings from the 1800s with this piece of modern architecture.

Architecture – Modern

This is another collection of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. Some I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.

For Rotterdam's Timmerhuis, a new building for the city hall that accommodates municipal services, offices, and residential units, OMA conceived a modular building with repeated units gradually set back from the street as they rise into two irregular peaks.

An old beer brewery got restored and extended with a new building and became a modern congress center.

Merge of inside objects and street reflections.
