The Miniature Railroad’s story began in 1919 with a man named Charles Bowdish of Brookville, PA. Originally a holiday display on the second floor of his house, it moved to the Buhl Planetarium in 1954, and ultimately found its final home at Carnegie Science Center in 1992.

When I saw this train along U.S. 50 west of Mcarthur in Vinton County, Ohio, I was reminded of Lampy's years as an engineer.

Here is our Ho scale model train and carriage, siting on the model track track, which is sitting in the real railway track! This Diesel engine and carriages are the same engine and carriages their have at the Oberon-Tarana heritage railway.

D2665 'TITAN'

Miniature freight train at Worden Park, Leyland.

The loco is similar in appearance to a Class 03/04 shunter.

A Chicago and North Western class E2 drifts east from Union Terminal to the Fleming engine facility in June of 1936. The crew has left the train consist at Union Terminal for another locomotive to continue the journey to the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

 

CNW #647 is an E2 class 'Pacific' 4-6-2 built in 1923 by the American Locomotive Company. It was designed for fast passenger service and regularly touched the 100 mph mark on its journey between Chicago and the Twin Cities. The model is a Pacific Fast Mail brass unit that has been heavily modified to improve both its running qualities as well as its appearance. A Tsunami II sound decoder and keep alive circuit has been installed in the tender and it was custom painted and weathered by Mark Guiffre.
