East Tennessee has many active groups for photographers. This model shoot was fun and I learned all sorts of things although this isn't a genre I would likely pursue ...except for the fun.
Model is Maxtastic. She came all the way from New Hampshire.
Strobist: SB-800 in a small softbox, camera right, 1/8 power giving f/6.3. That's 1/2 stop over the ambient. Triggered by PocketWizards.

JaxBecca saved the day. When the first model I selected didn't show, she came at the last minute and rocked the shoot. Awesome model.
Mayhem #806843
Model is Jezabel Lacombe
Strobist: SB-800 in a small softbox, camera right, supported by Neil, a very capable and gracious assistant. 1/8 power, giving f/6.3, about 1/2 stop over the ambient. Triggered by PocketWizards.

I volunteered to help a friend light a photo shoot. I had some new gear I wanted to play with and it seemed like a good learning experience. I snapped about 100 shots, about 80 of them were light tests and of the others I liked this one :) (I really wasn't focused on shooting)
Haley did the shoot to promote an upcoming album but I tell you that girl can work. This shot was at the end of about 3 pretty gnarly hours and she still had spunk.
I really wish I had taken "real" shots of the other scenes as they were all pretty cool, however that wasn't what I was there to do.
This really was the first legit photo I have taken where I set up the scene and lights as well as shot and processed. The focus is off but I do love the composition.
The gear I used for lighting was pretty eclectic. I borrowed 2 strobes from a buddy and the rest was mine. Feel free to offer lighting suggestions!
Strobist Info
Camera Right - Vivitar 285HV / shoot through umbrella.
Camera Left - LumoPro LP120 / silver foil umbrella
Hair Light - Yongnuo YN460 / Mini velcro on soft box
The idea for the shoot was a Twenties flapper theme, high key, with hats. It ended up being a contemporary fashion shoot with, well, hats.
Model is Caitlyn Hightower. She made the hat.
Strobist: 4 lights. 2 B800s in stripboxes (no diffusers) on the background, f/18. Key is an X1600 in a beauty dish with sock diffuser, camera right at about 45º, f/11. There is a floor skip, a B400 at about 1/2 power, camera right, to put light under the hat.
Texture is Pink Floral from pareeerica.

Strobist: X1600 with a long throw reflector, camera left, as key (and also to throw the shadow). It is at f/11, roughly +2 on the ambient. There is also an AB800 in a gridded beauty dish, front, as fill and set to f/8.
