Jennifer Willis
Photographer | Albums for Soldiers
March 31st 2010
Jennifer Willis is the brain behind "Albums for Soldiers: Images from Home". She created this non-profit dedicated to making 4x6 photo albums for deployed/stationed away military members.
She drives to the soldier's home and photographs all that she or he cannot see, touch or hold at that moment (spouses, children, pets, their home, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, prized possessions/collections, etc.).
She then prints & compiles 36 of the best photos into a small album which is then returned to the family for mailing. It is meant for comfort, to ease loneliness or homesickness. When its not possible to mail them a physical book, she sends them links to slideshows that she creates.
I met Jen a few years back when she used to come into Cameraland in Nashua. We developed a friendship, and she's been a model at one of our Southern NH Strobist Meetups.
She came by today so we could to some test shooting, and we got some fantastic images.
Jen has three small kids, and she looks amazing. Tall and skinny photographs near perfect every time.
