When its too cold for me out there with a camera I spend time in my nice warm workshop doing stuff like this. The model is to 1/6 scale and based on a machine I have. Model length 6 inches. Materials used are true to the origional.
For the theme 'Model', this is my OO gauge engine Nellie. She's almost as old as me, and a bit battered and bruised by life!
Sommige zeepbellen moet je niet doorprikken.
Studio opname met meerdere lichtbronnen (3000 W halogeen) om de zeepbellen goed uit te lichten.
Met een zwarte achtergrond werkt dit m.i. het mooiste. Maar dan moet je dan wel heel goed licht meten om het model of de zeepbellen niet over te belichten. ( hier heb ik het opvallend licht op model gemeten). Dat gaat het beste met een losse belichtingsmeter met wit kapje. Ik gebruik als losse belichtingsmeter een stokoude Gossen Lunasix. Meer dan 40 jaar oud en werkt nog betrouwbaar. Die werd zo genoemd omdat hij als één van de eerste het licht kon meten als een landschap door de maan (luna) werd verlicht.

Incorrect studio flash sync speed had ruined this image. And, a perfect pose in combination with a perfect facial expression is gone the instant the flash triggers. Models tend to go on to their next "look" or a variation of the previous.
What happens when using Radio Triggers, whether cheap Made-in-China types or more expensive PocketWizards, the Shutter Sync Speed is slower than using the old-fashioned PC-sync cable and the Shutter does not clear the entire frame before the image is captured, resulting in a blurred dark strip along the edge of the photo, and for film cameras it would be on the side of the frame and for digital cameras, it would be at the bottom (right side of this portrait).
My photoshop skills are deplorable, so, I just cropped the image.
The pose and facial expression of the Model was just too nice to discard or dismiss this image.

Ruby modeling for us in London today. Such a trooper.. it was about 2 degrees here! (Clothes or lack of not 100% my idea!)
Taken with my new Panasonic Lumix LX100 - putting it up against the Leica M 240 & Noctilux 50f1! Hmm :)
