John William Modder (Proctor) b 22 May 1831 in Jaffna, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) d 18 December 1863, son of Frederick Balthazar Modder and Catherine Susan de Niese. He married Caroline Frances Anjou b 03 June 1835, daughter of John Frederick Anjou and Caroline Frances Orton.
The first Modder in Ceylon was Arie Cornelisz Modder b 1725 in Haarlem, Holland. He was 20 years old and his sister Caelia was 13 years old when they sailed for Ceylon in 1745 in the V.O.C. ship Weltreveden. He settled in Ceylon in the service of the Dutch East India Company. On March 29, 1759, he married Isabella Wilhelmina de Visser.
John William is his grandson.
Catherine de Niese is the daughter of Abraham Lodewyk de Niese b. 1752 and Magdalena Elisabeth Maartensz.
The first de Niese in Ceylon was Benjamin de Niese. The first Maartensz in Ceylon was Jan Maartensz of Suchtelen, Holland who married Gertruida Pietersz. The family Pietersz came from Rotterdam, Holland

Ever since the I heard about the new screws in the iPhone (and Macbook Air) ( arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/01/apple-screwing-new-iph... ), I've been meaning to use this idea as an excuse to learn some inkscape. What I learned is that the X11 implementation of Inkscape on a mac leaves something to be desired. Anyway, I hate the idea of a company attempting to prevent you from improving a device that you have purchased. Damn you Apple, you just further reduced the value of my torx screwdrivers.
