Enjoying the last of the wild grapes.

This young Mockingbird comes at Hilda or I when we go in our front yard. It will come so close you can feel the wind off it's wings. It can be in a tree in a neighbors yard and here it will come. We have Mockingbirds all the time and have never had one do this. I wish I had a camera with me a few days ago. It got after a squirrel and that squirrel took off.

Have a great weekend.

Ya it snowed here this weekend

I always look forward to this small tree flowering in early summer. Its flowers are intensely fragrant, especially on a warm evening.

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated

Looks are Deceiving

They appear sweet but taste like sawdust

I have been wanting to practice my bird photo techniques. We had a Mocking Bird land on our Sycamore tree right before lunch so I ran to grab my camera before he flew away. I had my 16-135mm lens on the camera which is not ideal but I didn't want to take time to change it and miss losing the shot. I just watched a seminar by Matt Kloskowski on photographing birds and it really helped me get at least somewhat of a decent shot. Not like others here on Flickr' but I'm proud what what I have learned and done to this point.

We saw quite a few of these beautiful birds and their song was a frequent soundtrack to our surroundings.

So here is one, having caught it mid-itch

They were common enough, that few people stopped to watch them - but I continue to love "the ordinary birds" and likely will always try to get extraordinary pictures, of 'ordinary birds'.

Last year this Mock Orange suddenly appeared in my yard. I think the seeds may have come from my neighbour's tree. I was intending to plant one in the yard, but now I don't have to.

The mocking cliff chat is a large member of the old world flycatcher (Muscicapidae) family, more like a thrush or blackbird in size. This one was on the thatched roof of our hut in Ubizane.
