My last attempt at the Condor was *checks notes* six years ago.

Geez, really? Six years?

Anyway, it was time to revisit.

This new version is shaped a little more like the original toy and includes all the bells and whistles. Even the tiny little headlight cannon.

There was probably no M.A.S.K. vehicle more recognizable than the Rhino. It was the darn logo, for crying out loud. But Kenner never took advantage of that to sell us a trailer.

This is my attempt to try and correct this injustice. Full photo shoot coming soon. Until then, let me have your best guesses as to what it turns into...

I think this is my third version of the Rhino. This new version has every gimmick the original toy had save the ejector seat.

-Battering Ram

-Smokestack Cannons

-Missile Launcher

-Mobile Computer Command Center

-Detachable all-terrain vehicle

It took some real Tetris/Oragami to get everything to fold up into the sleeper portion of the cab in truck mode while keeping it in LEGO City scale, but it all fits while still holding the driver and co-pilot in the cab in truck mode.

Plus there's the sweet 80s pin stripes.

Seemingly just a Boulder Hill oil tanker, when M.A.S.K. reaches the mission site, this trailer can deploy into a mobile command base and a sonic tank.

The command base is equipped with multiple generators, food supplies, and a next generation computer system that can connect to Boulder Hill's mainframe from anywhere in the world. This home-away-from-home that can keep a full M.A.S.K. team on an away mission for upwards of two weeks before additional support is needed.

The sonic tank uses focused soundwaves to generate concussive blasts. At the highest setting, it's powerful enough to dig a new road through a mountain, if needed. But it can also be focused down to a less intense blast, suitable for knocking out any V.E.N.O.M. agents that happen to be caught sneaking around the perimeter.

The whole MASK team together.

Is it a tiger the size of a semi-truck, or a semi-truck the size of a tiger?

These kinds of questions keep me up at night.

This shot was mostly just me playing with my new camera lens.

I did two bad guy group shots. Figured the heroes deserved one, too.

I'm uploading instructions for my MOCs on Rebrickable now. I'm Flashback Bricks on that site, and I changed my handle here to match.

rebrickable.com/users/Flashback_Bricks/profile/

Pictured here are the first wave of instructions that will be going up. Battle Cat and the Phone Booth are already approved and free to download. The Turtle Van and the MASK sets will be going up soon as Premium MOCs (i.e. for sale).

I'm working on future waves that'll include, KITT, the DeLorean, Ecto-1...and, heck, if things go well, I'll upload instructions for all of Playset Street.

I intend to keep the prices on my Premium sets pretty cheap. Even still, if we've been following each other on here for a while, reach out and I might be able to slip you some instructions.

This is my fourth or fifth version of the Thunderhawk. Maybe my sixth? It's been one of the tougher nuts to crack.

Every time I build a version, I eventually end up looking at it and thinking I can do better.

On this version, I allowed myself to use a little parts-forming to replicate the "wings" that folded out of the doors on the original toy. In order to justify this, I made it so the wings could be stored inside the rear of the car mode. So all the pieces are always accounted for in each mode.

Also in flight mode, the spoiler raises and the jet engines are revealed from behind the rear bumper.

Felt good to finish the team. Real good.

The latest addition to Playset Street is Boulder Hill - headquarters of the MASK organization. This model is scaled with the rest of my 80s toy town and is fully transformable to battle station mode...sorta. The guns all convert like the original toy did, but the bunker armor portions are removable facade pieces. I did this so that I could make a playable interior. Remove the roof and you can access the gas station interior with a register and two refrigerated cases. Open up the back and access the MASK command center, with cartoon accurate briefing table and a multi-armed MASK distribution system which can hand out up to four masks to the MASK agents best suited for this mission.

One of my favorite Christmas presents this year were the Wicked Brick stands. They really make a great way to display aerial vehicle builds.

Mumm-ra, a Spectral Ghostbuster, Shredder, Cobra Commander, Skeletor, Miles Mayhem, Doc Terror, Tex Hex, and Megatron.

Almost two years ago exactly I uploaded this photo: www.flickr.com/photos/63079594@N02/10028954415

In that two years my collection has grown, some figures have been improved upon and my photography has gotten marginally better. So I thought it would be fun to update it.

This project started off with me just wanting to add the new Speed Champions fenders to my Thunderhawk, but one thing led to another and I essentially rebuilt it in full.

This new version is a little larger, a little more accurate to the IROC Camaro, has working gull wing doors (finally), chrome pipes/guns, and a rear fender that flips up to reveal a set of jet thrusters (still no spoiler lifting function, though...)

I need to make some VENOM vehicles...

Proof of life.

Life has been busy, and I haven't had a ton of time for my hobby this year. But I did get to take advantage of the long weekend to begin work on the MASK Firecracker, the last of the series' first wave that I had to build. Waiting on a Bricklink order for the pieces to finesse a few things, but really happy with the WIP so far.

Revisited some of my MOCs recently and and haven't had a chance to get photos of them all, but I want to try and get them done in the next few days.

First up is the Rhino. I reshaped the front bumper, added some length to the pipe cannons, and made a few details like gas tanks that were missing before.

The kenner toys mobilearmoredstrikekommand or just M.A.S.K, is a 80stoys example of how good toys were back in those days.

These midiscale replicas all do transform the way the real toys did.

In my original Thunderhawk design, I folded part of the wings under the car, which meant the driver had to sit kind of high up to allow for clearance. I gave the whole build a sort of chibi-vibe and I kind of got away with it.

Recently, though, I figured out a way to fold those wing parts flush against the door in the inside of the car, which meant I could lower the driver and create a more accurate model.

And so I did.

The door wings still aren't completely accurate, but it's a lot closer than it was.

My favorite part of the new design is that the missile auto-deploys/retracts as you raise and lower the ramp.

Prepping instructions for my MASK vehicles made me naturally consider doing instructions for Boulder Hill. But my Boulder Hill MOC used facade pieces for the armor and used a a simple crosswalk baseplate, which really wasn't accurate to the old toy. If I was going to offer up instructions, I wanted to do better.

So this is Boulder Hill 2.0. It sits on the same 32x32 footprint as my original model, but it's packed with more detail, more functionality, and more accuracy to the original toy.

It's completely self-contained and transformable. No facade pieces. The hinged door in the mountain that lets the cannon fold away is more integrated. The whole thing sits on a much more toy accurate baseplate, with space to fuel up any six-stud wide (or less) cars and trucks. It still features a minifig compatible convenience store interior, complete with a cash register and stocked shelves. The back of the convenience store hides a command center with computer console and Mask energizer. In attack mode the M.A.S.K. team can stand around the energizer and have their Masks distributed via mechanical arms. The garage doors work in both modes and, just like the original toy, vehicles can drive straight through the set. All weaponry is fully transformable and each weapon rotates a full 360 degrees.

There are also a lot of improvements that are invisible in pics: it's sturdier, easier to carry around and place on a shelf, etc.

Instructions for this will go up soon. For now you can check out the rest of my instruction sets here: rebrickable.com/users/Flashback_Bricks/mocs/

You know them, you may not have loved them, but damn if they weren't in every episode.

So September's still got a few more hours, but rubber masks and fun size candy bars already rule the store shelves. It put me in the holiday spirit.

Mumm-Ra, Miles Mayhem, Skeletor, Cobra Commander, a Spectral Ghostbuster*, Doc Terror, and Krang. Eeeeeeeevil.

*it's a thing. Google it. That franchise is not great as arch-enemies go.

Also did some changes to the Thunderhawk - new tires, adding the lightning bolt detail to the doors, and reshaping the front and back ends so they look at least a little more like the original car. At least I hope they do. This car has given me more trouble...

It's not like back on Eternia. He-Man's adjusting.

Dusty Hayes and Hondo MacLean in Gator leave the Boulder Hill service station as Scott Trakker and Alex Sector look on.

Trying to find a unique and accurate way to replicate the masks from the series has been quite a challenge, but a fun one. Hopefully they're recognizable to the other MASK fans out there.

Full credit to Orion Pax for inspiring my Matt Trakker several years ago and Albert Penello for running a MASK website that's a great resource.

Still to come (someday): Alex Sector, Buddy Hawks, Dusty Hayes, Gloria Baker, Vanessa Warfield, and Scott and T-Bob.

The Condor doesn't blend as well into the City aesthetic as Thunderhawk and Rhino, but I'm still pretty happy with how it came out overall. The wheels roll freely and the scale is pretty close. What else can you ask for?

I mean, sure, the rotor ends up looking like Brad's got a droid strapped to the back of his bike when you fold it away, but c'est la vie.

It's that time of year again.

Here it is - Switchblade. The big baddie from MASK, and my final MASK build. For a good long while, at least.
